Have you ever wondered why we send Christmas cards, or why not every country sends cards? When was the first card sent? Who sent the first Christmas Card? How many Christmas cards are sent each year? In this video I'll answer some of these questions as I explore the history of the Christmas card.
This session is based on a video (History of the Christmas Card | Who Sent the First Card) with real life explorer and Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society Sarah Weldon.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES (KEY STAGE 1-4 HISTORY):
1. gain historical perspective by placing their growing knowledge into different contexts, understanding the connections between local, regional, national and international history; between cultural, economic, military, political, religious and social history; and between short- and long-term timescales.

A colouring activity to help students learn the names of mathematical signs and symbols. Ideal for primary school students, and students learning English as a foreign language. Students learning other foreign languages could use the sheets to write the new words under the familiar name. Can be used alongside my numbers pages to create maths games where children hold the number and symbol cards and answer their own maths questions.

This colouring page is deliberately minimal so that students can use it to add their own knowledge, style, or design to make it personal to them. It can be used to test prior knowledge or to introduce a topic, or as a revision activity or to see what new knowledge students have acquired. The picture could be stuck to the front of a student's notebook, file or folder at the start of term, to help them get organised with all of their new subjects. It could also be used as part of an English as a foreign language course to talk about the subjects students might study at school, and which are their favourite or least liked subjects.
