How will these GCSE French Listening Lessons Help?
The aim of creating these listening lessons was to help intermediate or GCSE French students to improve their topic-related vocabulary, speaking, writing and listening skills. The focus is French listening, with the inclusion of a native speaker MP3 audio clip (2-3 minutes each) and the transcript. There are also listening comprehension questions and the opportunity to utilise the transcript aud audio clip further with extra activities.
This has been created for the AQA GCSE French syllabus, but can be used to supplement the text book material. However, since the topics between exam boards are quite similar, they could be easily used as listening practice for Pearson, Eduqas and WJEC and other exam boards too.

I couldn’t find a French pronunciation chart that was exactly what I wanted for my KS3 French and GCSE French students and so I created it.
The PDF document contains 3 sections to help students with their pronunciation of French sounds, some letters and common letter combinations that cause a problem. This includes: nasal sounds, silent letters and letter combinations, such as ‘ui’, ‘au’, ‘ch’ etc.

Both from personal and professional experience, learning and being able to use vocabulary is a vital component to having confidence and being successful in communicating in any foreign language. Therefore it is important to teach vocabulary well to help students acquire and use the language, as well as develop that confidence.
An original, yet simple game of taboo using common German words found at KS3 level and KS4 level German to get students speaking! There are a few words on the PDF that could challenge some more able students, too.
