Assertion/reason questions test understanding by questioning the validity of the reason in supporting a statement (the assertion) (answers and hints provided).

Odd-one-out looks for links between species or statements etc and challenges to find the odd one. There are often many answers of varying degrees of sophistication and so many topics can be revised along the way (answers provided).

Say-something-intelligent gets students to analyse an unfamiliar molecules, looking for something intelligent to say about functional groups, IR, nmr, reactions, mechanisms etc.
