This bundle contains the complete series of lessons I have created for AQA GCSE Germany 1890–1945: Democracy and Dictatorship.

The resources are designed to combine strong subject knowledge with regular GCSE exam practice, helping students develop the historical skills needed to access the highest grades.

Throughout the unit, students build secure knowledge and understanding of key events, individuals and developments, from Kaiser Wilhelm II and the impact of the First World War through to Hitler’s rise to power and the creation of a Nazi dictatorship.

The lessons also develop students’ understanding of second-order concepts including change and continuity, cause and consequence, significance and interpretation.

Source analysis and evaluation are embedded throughout the unit, alongside opportunities for students to make supported judgements and practise extended written answers in GCSE exam-style questions.

All lessons are fully resourced, clearly structured and designed to be engaging as well as academically rigorous. They include a variety of activities, differentiated tasks, suggested teaching strategies and opportunities for retrieval and exam practice.
