German Cartoon Character 'Speed Dating' Speaking and Listening Activity (personal information)

German Cartoon Character 'Speed Dating' Speaking and Listening Activity (personal information)

These are cards which can be cut up and laminated to use for a speed dating style speaking and listening activity. Each student is given a card and takes on the role of that character. Students work in pairs and have two or three minutes together before moving on to pair up with another student. Students ask each other questions to find out the information on their partner's card (Wie heisst du? Wie alt bit du? Wann hast du Geburtstag? Wo wohnst du?). Once both students have asked and answered questions they can share their cards to check that the listener heard / noted the correct information. Students have really enjoyed doing this activity and it is a great way to improve confidence in speaking and listening. The cards can also then be distributed around the class for students to write out a 'character profile'.
