I am glad to share this wonderful game with you. It is great fun for learners to actually use their language skills to describe a word and the others guessing it. ❤️ About me ❤️ Hi there 👋🏼! I´m Cindy from Leipzig, Germany. I have been a German and English teacher for more than 12 years now. And I love coffee breaks ☕️. Coffee is just great. Over the years I have realized how much my students benefit most from lessons where THEY are the leaders, where THEY are encouraged to be proactive and learn from each other. Handing over the reins to my students doesn’t make me weaker as a teacher. It makes them responsible for their own learning and is highly motivating. I don’t want my students to be sailors. I want them to be CAPTAINS! (And I want coffee!) My teaching resources are all designed to enable students to USE the language. This is why you will always find the communicative approach in my resources - even simple crosswords come with ideas for speaking activities. All of my resources have been tested in class and will be updated regularly. Please rate my resources to help me build a reputation among millions of resources. Thanks for working with me ☺️ Cindy Please see my other resources, too: [https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/CindyKuehne]

Ich bin gesund

Ich bin gesund

All resources needed for this observed lesson are included. The focus is on discussing healthy eating and drinking in a lower ability set. The lesson is carefully structured to allow students to notice word order changes when using time phrases at the start of their sentences. It also encourages them to use two simple qualifiers. To give students an opportunity for feedback on their understanding of word order changes, an activity using word cards is included. For this, they need to follow the model sentences on the board and create grammatically correct equivalents. Where they make a mistake, you should point them to the board and ask them how their answer is different. The exit cards plenary involved ticking the statements that apply, before testing students ready to go at the end of the lesson. The first option is a trick.

KS4 German: Health! Questions and Answers; Future/Conditional/Modals +Infinitive constructions

Comprehensive worksheet on the topic of health, focusing on practising and producing the verb structure 'second-final' (i.e. future, conditional and modal verbs + infinitive). Because we all like to talk about what we WILL/WOULD/COULD/SHOULD do!! Great for GCSE classes. Clearly demonstrated using 'sentence-builders', which can also be used for revision, or to create longer pieces of writing.

German Foods/ Supermarket game

German Foods/ Supermarket game

German 'shopping' game for learning foods and some instructions Included: -Images of food -Shopping trolley -German vocab list -Key words -Instructions -Children are paired up for the game. Each pair has a set of the food images, an image of the 'trolley', a vocabulary sheet and the word cards. Each pair is also given a whiteboard and pen. -The food pictures are placed facing upwards on the table. The vocabulary sheet and the word cards are turned over on the table so that they can't be seen. -The children label themselves A and B. Person A is the ‘customer’ and person B is the ‘shop assistant’. -Person A will write 'shopping list' at the top of their whiteboard, and numbers one to four down the side of the board. Person A randomly selects four of the word cards that are placed upside down on the table. They then write out the four words onto the whiteboard to make up the shopping list, and read them out loud for Person B, using the phrase, "Ich möchte..." (I need…) to begin the sentence. -It is then person B's responsibility to find the corresponding pictures that match the German words and place them in the trolley. Afterwards, person B says, “Ich habe…” (I have…) and then lists the food items they have in German to finish the sentence. -If either of the children struggle to understand what some of the vocabulary means, then they can turn over the vocab sheet to help them. -At the end of each person's turn, the children can also use the vocab sheet as a guide to check that the images in the trolley correctly match the word cards on the list. Afterwards, these images and cards are placed to one side, and it is the next person's turn. The activity continues until all of the images and word cards have been used up.
