A joint action routine outlining the steps needed to develop more intentional communication through imitation, consistency and repetition. To be used with MSI / pre-verbal children. A personal identifier is recommended. Signs can be added for children who can copy gesture or be scaffolded to do this. Can be printed and laminated for pocket in wheelchair to encourage multiple repetitions and encourage consistency.

It was designed for secondary aged special educational needs students and I have used images that are motivating for this age group as you will see, you can easily adapt the resource to include images that will motivate your students.

BSL Course for teachers in Cardiff

Learning some British Sign Language (BSL) can help break down barriers and create a friendly and accessible environment. Our Start to Sign training course will provide you with basic BSL skills to communicate with pupils who are deaf and use BSL. It is a fantastic introduction to BSL, giving you the opportunity to learn more than 150 signs in a day. Start to Sign at Schools: Cardiff Training Day November 16th Time 09:30 – 14:30 As a teacher, do you or your colleagues work with pupils whose main language is British Sign Language (BSL)? Learning some British Sign Language (BSL) can help break down barriers and create a friendly and accessible environment. Our Start to Sign training course will provide you with basic BSL skills to communicate with pupils who are deaf and use BSL. It is a fantastic introduction to BSL, giving you the opportunity to learn more than 150 signs in a day. Lunch is provided! By the end of the course, you will be able to: Recognise and apply basic grammatical structures in BSL Use appropriate greetings Communicate your job title / role in BSL Introduce yourself using fingerspelling Hold a brief conversation with a person who is deaf using everyday vocabulary How is the course delivered? The Start to Sign course is delivered by an experienced trainer whose first or preferred language is BSL. The course duration is one working day, usually 10:00 to 17:00, with an hour for lunch. A half day course is also available. Certification The course is Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accredited, so participants will receive a certificate of attendance showing the CPD points achieved (3 points for the half day course and 6 points for the full day course). This is a sheet that I have created to summarise all of the information found in an EHCP document. I type the objectives and dos and don'ts onto the first sheet and then on the second sheet is a timetable for the week that allows you to map out provision. This has been very useful for holding teachers to account in ensuring that EHCP objectives are being worked towards and allows easy monitoring of progress towards achievement.

Colors Activity for special education and autism. This is a 12 page book great for young children ages 3-5 as well as for children with autism and special needs. The pages must be printed on photo paper and laminated. The last 4 pages with cards must be cut out. You`ll get 2 sets of cards: first set including only pictures and the second set including also picture names. Use velcro on the back side of each card and in the middle of each blank square on the pages of the book. The colors included are: yellow, white, black, purple, blue, green, orange, pink, red, grey, brown.
