Feeling Charts

These feeling charts have been created to be an interactive, frequently-used, classroom resource. The more students utilize the charts, the more the classroom as a whole and the student as an individual, will benefit. Students better understand their own emotions when they learn to identify what they are feeling; and proceed to learn how to cope with those emotions. This, in return, allows for a positive classroom environment with less confusion and more understanding between students and teachers. -There are 24 feelings included: aggressive, angry, annoyed, bored, calm, cold, confident, confused, disappointed, embarrassed, excited, friendly, frustrated, funny, grumpy, happy, hot, hungry, hurt, lazy, motivated, nervous, overwhelmed, proud, quiet, sad, scared, shy, sick, silly, surprised, tired -One large feelings chart. Oustanding SEND Support Plan and Whole School Rationale

Oustanding SEND Support Plan and Whole School Rationale

This is an excellent resources for SENCO's and Heads who need to demonstrate a system to show how all universal services are working together to deliver the outcomes of all children who have an EHCP or awaiting assessment for one . One of the key features identified in the SEND code of practice 2015 is working together across education, health and social care for joint outcomes. As a school it is required that we should ‘develop a joint understanding of the outcomes that their local population of children and young people with SEN and disabilities aspires to, and use it to produce a joint plan, which they then deliver jointly, and review jointly.’ The legal framework in relation to the code of practice indicated that under Section 25 of the Children and Families Act 2014 local authorities (Schools) should ensure integration between educational provision, health and social care provisions, where this would promote wellbeing and improve the quality of provision for disabled young people and those with SEN. (page 38 of the Code of Practice). As a result of the legal framework and Ofsted recomendation it was decided to devise a universal system where all provision / outcomes are identified and specific to the individual children at ………. School. Having discussed this with external professionals and researched what is identified as outstanding practice, I began to create a system that is universal with all stakeholders and acknowledges the views of the child and how to best support them. In reflection to the above a new whole school framework has been develop and I have worked closely with the Head of Care, Chair of governors, Educational Psychologist, LA SEND Department, …….. (Upper School SENCO), ……..(Team Teach Lead), ……. (PSA) to produce a system called (Individual SEN Support Plan).

Mood Toolbox & Poster Bundle

Mood Toolbox & Poster Bundle

This program was developed by Natalie Clarke with the assistance from her friend, a behaviour specialist (40 years experience) to help Natalie’s son with ASD. The intervention assists Ben in understanding his own emotions and has empowered him to select strategies from the toolbox to use when needed. He has become more independent in his choices of how he regulates his emotions. Natalie has three degrees, including a Masters in Special Education and over 30 years experience teaching in Public, State and Autistic Schools. Over the years, Natalie has assisted many children in learning how to regulate their own emotions. Mood toolbox is a practical approach and can be used individually or in the whole class environment. It is especially helpful for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Social Emotional Disorder (SED). A fun character affectionately called Moodzie helps to encourage children to recognize their own moods. Each Moodzie has a color that represents different moods, such as red for anger, blue for sadness etc. Learning to navigate the emotional roads of children can be challenging, but for the impacted children, discerning and working through their own moods can be even more trying. Some children may not know how to communicate their feelings, but with the Mood Tool Box, their moods can be explored through Moodzie’s various adventure stories and other support materials. Included in this resources is a series three Mood Tool Box Adventure Stories: Moodzie Chooses Happy Moodzie Gets Agro Moodzie Blues Moodzie is happy most of the time. However, antennae makes Moodzie very sensitive to the world. Come on a journey with Moodzie to discover all about moods and the strategies to make Moodzie happy again.” In additon this includes all posters that can be printed and displayed in larger sizes. Secret Mission Cards

Secret Mission Cards

This is a PowerPoint full of cards to be printed and laminated. I utilize in different ways: I give challenging students them so they focus during the lesson; I use them to stretch and challenge individual students; I like to leave them in books when I've marked them; stick them under chairs in the lesson. Some are very creative missions whilst others are used for behavior management. Whenever a student passes their secret mission, they receive a reward - a sweet, postcard or phone call home.
