Understanding passive voice

Understanding passive voice

The resource aims to help pupils to understand passive voice. As a first activity pupils are asked to decide which of two synonymous sentences are passive and which are active. They have to identify the verb and list it for each sentence which gives them the active and the passive form of verbs in a range of tenses. A grammar information sheet summarises the main points. The “Active into passive machine” worksheet with an example and a blank version can be used by pupils to transform active sentences into passive sentences. The worksheets are within the wider context of diaries. This is suitable for: • The whole class • EAL students (advanced stage) • Late arrivals in KS4 • Individual students who need to catch up

SATs revision fun

SATs revision fun

Do you remember the game runaround from the 80’s? Here are a selection of SATs style multiple choice questions for maths and English (SPAG). Then using the basic rules of runaround the children have thirty seconds to work out the solution and get to A, B or C. If you have a sneaky class you could also add in the extra rule that after 30 seconds they have another ten seconds to change their answer. Will they play sneaky or be fairer. It could be a good way of revision and exercise to relax the class and unwind at the same time.
