Handwriting progression map for every year group outlining which letters/sounds/words such be practised each week.
The handwriting is progressive in line with Little Wandle Phonics Scheme and Rising Stars Spelling Scheme.
Foundation and Y1 should start with mark making, patterns and letter/number formation.
Cursive handwriting is introduced in Y2.
Handwriting starters should be used at the beginning of English lessons. Finger/hand/pencil warm-ups should introduce the lesson and grip and seating position should be reinforced every day. Model the handwriting then children practise.

Thank you for the resource. I wanted to check, I've opened up the editable document and it isn't cursive. I've tried to use the XCCW Joined 1a’ ‘XCCW Joined 1b’ and it keeps it as non cursive. I was wondering how I solve this? Thank you
What font do you use on word to get the joins? Thanks love the resource
