Tarsia Game about "El colegio" in Spanish/English

Tarsia Game about "El colegio" in Spanish/English

Tarsia is a freeware for Maths. However, it can be used to create vocabulary games for MFL. This one is about making a shape with triangles that have words in each of the sides. They need to match the right word in order the complete the shape. It must be printed in an A4 single sheet and students must cut all the triangles, then stick the final shape in a page of their book. Solution attached too.

GCSE Spanish: Vocabulary revision cards

GCSE Spanish: Vocabulary revision cards

This activity contains over 90 vocabulary revision cards which are all various levels of difficulty. Once cut up, pupils take it in turn to pick up a card at random and either speak or write down what the card says. For example “tres animales” (this would be a ‘green’ / easy card) or “tres problemas que existen en familias hoy en dia” (this would be a ‘red’ / difficult card). Translations are provided in English as well on each card to ensure understanding - pupils can either listen to the instruction in Spanish from their partner or read the instruction. This activity will help pupils revise vocabulary for topics that they might not have studied for a while, and will help them figure out which areas of vocabulary they are weakest at. I did this recently with my Year 11 class and they loved it!

GCSE Spanish: Writing Practice & Revision

GCSE Spanish: Writing Practice & Revision

This document contains a wide selection of possible writing tasks that could come up in the GCSE writing exam. The tasks are differentiated and can either be assigned to particular pupils, or pupils can choose their own level of challenge. Topics covered include: family, relationships, marriage, school, town/city, house and home, holidays, travel, festivals & customs, environment, healthy living, sports. Pupils should do this task in exam conditions and without using additional resources - I would also recommend peer assessment as a good way of pupils learning from each other’s mistakes etc.

A level Spanish Speaking Revision Booklet

A level Spanish Speaking Revision Booklet

A revision booklet aimed at A level students doing the AQA spec. Primarily, it includes a list of the exam regulations as well as the structure of the exam. As this booklet focuses on the stimulus card aspect of the exam, it also has a mark scheme for that. It includes an example of a stimulus card on all 12 themes used throughout AS and A level AQA Spanish. There are three questions on each card, and subsequently, there are possible answers to each question on each card to show students how to structure their planning and best use their time. There is space for extra annotations and translations to be done as the comments are in English. As the students are required to ask their teacher 2 questions relating to the card, there are also 4 examples per card of questions students could ask. At the end of the booklet, there are tasks for the students to complete. These tasks include: plan your own response for three of the questions under ‘possible questions to ask teachers’ where students are encouraged to think outside the box. practice doing one of the cards with a peer, taking it in turns to swap roles and be the examiner. This helps them to get to grips with the mark scheme. lastly, there is an example of transcript between a student and an examiner. The students should annotate this with what the student did well, and how they could improve. By doing both of these, the students can learn something.

La ropa (Los disfraces de Pingu) - Lectura guiada

This booklet is designed to introduce and/or practice the vocabulary related to calendar (months) clothes and jobs. The story is about Pingu, a penguin who like to dress up every month. INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE STORY BOOKLET The story booklet can be projected on the interactive board. This is a good way to make sure all the students are engaged during the reading. Just open it in Adobe Acrobat Reader and choose Full Screen Mode from the View menu. Scroll down to turn pages. Print the document in Booklet size on normal A4 paper. Fold the pages in the middle and staple them. If you do not have an interactive board in the classroom, it is a good idea to print the story in normal size to make a bigger copy that all the students can see and follow. After you have read the story once with the kids, ask some comprehension questions. You might want to revise colors, months of the year, professions and some verbs that appear in the story, as well as any unknown vocabulary. Students can go on reading the story again in pairs. When they have had enough practice with the reading, they may go on with the worksheet.

KS5 Topic Revision & Speaking Practice

KS5 Topic Revision & Speaking Practice

**RESOURCE LOOKS FINE ONCE DOWNLOADED - 2 PAGE DOCUMENT APPEARS STRANGELY IN PREVIEW. ** This resource provides KS5 pupils with the opportunity to test their vocabulary and knowledge of different topics. The cards on each sheet can be cut up and used as a card sorting activity, in which pupils have to match up relevant facts to the statements made in the larger boxes. This will enable pupils to practice providing ‘evidence’ when making statements (which is a key aspect of the KS5 speaking exam). Once the cards have been sorted (as a reading activity), pupils can begin having discussions about the statements made and whether they agree / disagree etc. I have done the activity with my current Year 12 class and it really helped them think deeply about different topics and tested their vocabulary. After the match-up activity, they were able to have a detailed debate about a range of topics :)
