Growth Mind Set Assembly

Growth Mind Set Assembly

I used this assembly as an introduction to a new whole school drive on improving students numeracy through a tutor time activity called the maths Olympics. The assembly starts with a video which shows photos of a boy from birth to 11. The students were mesmerised by it and it meant they all came in nice and calmly. The assembly looks at the number of days and hours students have been alive and what they have done with their time and focuses on the importance of having a growth mind set to make the most of their time. The assembly lasts around 15 minutes and worked really well. Enjoy

Growth Mindset - Staff meeting and additional materials: Update 2018.

Growth Mindset - Staff meeting and additional materials: Update 2018.

A very high quality resource. This is a 32 slide Powerpoint, including videos and high quality unique animations around the subject of Growth-Mindset designed for presentation to staff and parents alike. Many parts are also suitable for children themselves especially the videos. Uniquely designed and produced my myself with a extremely reputable colleague 'Rachael Ainsworth' for use at inset in school. As we designed this resource collaboratively I am lucky enough to be able to post these particular elements here. I have also included slide handouts and and a Mac / Keynote / iPad version of the resource, which also has embedded video files. Note the keynote version of the resource has additional special effects for Mac / OS/ iPad users. Perfect for the introduction or refresh of 'Growth-Mindset' in schools and won't have been seen anywhere! I have included some of the research videos we used as part of our project.

AS/A2 Compatibilism (Soft Determinism)

AS/A2 Compatibilism (Soft Determinism)

An introduction to compatibilism with a focus on the specific understanding put forward by Locke. The powerpoint offers key information for students' own note taking and I have included some guidance in the presenter notes for yourself. The resource includes a differentiated group interpretation sheet where students are tasked with examining quotes from about and from famous compatibilists including Locke, Hume and Hobbes in order to identify key features of compatibilist thought. Included is a 50 word grid for use with the plenary. I hope you find it helpful since it has taken me a long while to feel very comfortable teaching this area of the course! I have provided for free the follow-up reading on David Hume (which can be given as an independent reading task or done in lesson). It can be found by searching 'A2 Compatibilism' on the TES resources or by copying this URL into your address bar: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/a2-compatibilism-david-hume-reading-with-questions-11127076

Motivational Quotes!

Motivational Quotes!

I have hand chosen some of my favorite motivational quotes and hopefully what I see as some great pictures to go with them! This has taken me ages to put together, but please enjoy! I have loaded using Publisher, and PDF - so you can use the format that suits you best. The PowerPoint slide is a sample that will show up here on TES. If you want to make any changes, use the Publisher file - you will need to 'ungroup' each image first. Please rate and leave a comment!
