A PowerPoint with starters suitable for KS2. Starters based on riddles, maths and English questions. Number, logic, problem solving, grammar questions. Based on the New Curriculum. These can be used daily during registration or as starters before lessons. These can be worked out independently or in groups and require challenging and critical thinking. In PowerPoint so you can easily adapt if differentiation is required. This pack contains 30 close reading comprehensions and questions that are suitable for Reception to Year 2 depending on the ability of your students. There are a range of comprehensions that gradually get harder and require the students to read and answer more questions as they progress through each comprehension. The initial comprehensions are simpler and have 3 questions and build up to more complex passages with 9 questions by the final comprehensions. These are great to use for whole class activities, guided reading, or both independent and supported work or homework. These are based on the reading outcomes from the National Curriculum for Year 1 and 2. Please note these are not the same as my 10 Early Years reading comprehensions. These are more complex. A full lesson resource. A PowerPoint that explains what persuasive writing is and examples of the features that need to be included in writing. Task: Students receive a letter from the headteacher (letter included) saying that the Christmas party has been cancelled. Students must write a persuasive letter to the principal outlining reasons not to cancel the party. Supporting PowerPoint takes students through the planning process and highlights the features of persuasive writing (introduction, explaining your views, paragraphs, rhetorical questions, facts/data, persuasive language). Three worksheets included to test the students understanding of the concept. Worksheet 1 (Students will identify the main clauses in the 10 sentences by circling them) Worksheet 2 (Students will will given a subordinate clause and asked to write a corresponding main clause)> Worksheet 3 (Students will have 10 sentences, they will identify whether the underlined section is a main or subordinate clause). Students will be asked to identify main and subordinate clauses in the beginning, middle and end of the sentences. They will then be required to work with a partner or a group to finish sentences with main or subordinate clauses. 3 worksheets included based on the PowerPoint 1. Guided Reading Comprehensions A set of 10 Early Reading Comprehensions. Simple language used, including key words, for children to read. There is then three questions based on each text and a large space for students to write their answers. Can be used with more able Reception Children and Year 1 and 2 Students. Also included are reading activity sheets that the children can complete based on the texts in the pack or they can use these to answer questions on any narrative text. Aligned with reading outcomes from the New National Curriculum. I laminated the reading activity sheets and children selected their own books and answered the questions in the activity. Milne, the inspiration for Winnie the Pooh and how it has grown in success so much so that Word Winnie the Pooh Day is celebrated on 18th January every year. The reading comprehension comes with a work sheet with 10 questions and a timeline activity to demonstrate their understanding of the life of A.A. Milne. Each letter has its own page and space for various words beginning with each letter. At the back their is a second dictionary template with a space for a picture and handwriting line. Each page is lettered from a-z. Blank page included for you to write specific words. I will also personalise each booklet with your students names (up to 40 booklets per purchase).
