When you get the homework back choose the ones that are clear and make sense to photocopy for their next homework. They were actually enthusiastic about this homework! Please leave feedback.

There are some simple rules to follow which I have included in a word document. You only need one board -the same one- for each child. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK! You can change the names on the board to the children you teach. They really enjoy this and it makes grammar a bit more fun!!

KS2 Division + Remainders Challenge, 5 stages + SB

(5)
This is very motivational and fun but does assume children will have already got a good understanding of division with remainders! Follow the Smart board to understand what to do. The children try to answer the 10 division with remainders questions on each card as quickly as possible and then self mark before moving on to the next stage. Only let them have one stage at a time. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK!The questions get harder but it is possible for some to complete all 5 stages in a lesson!

6 Philosophy Sessions for years 1-4

(20)
If you have never tried philosophy before these lessons are a good starting point! The children really enjoy these discussions/debates! Based on ideas from Philosophy 4 children everything is explained in the lesson plans. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK! The children sit in a circle and take turns to discuss what they think the answer to the question is-saying whether they agree or disagree with another child. They improve their listening, speaking and reasoning skills and learn that there is not always one right answer to a question.

Big Spellings spelling lists KS2 whole school

(11)
These are differentiated spelling lists for a junior or primary school, and there is a file here which explains exactly how it could work in your school. It means each child has exactly the right spelling list for them regardless of age. This was a very popular resource with over 100 ratings and 5 stars. Lots of schools have adopted it and I’ve had very positive feedback from teachers, but took me all summer to make and so I thought I’d start to charge for it. It encourages independence as the children test each other at the end of the week. There are enough spelling lists on one A4 sheet to last a term. The lists start with cvc words and phonic sounds, progressing to very challenging words. They also contain all the High Frequency Words. There are free assessment sheets in another resource to work out which sheet each child starts at. See my other resources to see how to learn the Government statutory lists along side this. Also hold Spelling Bees (see my free resources for this!

Number Sudoku 4x4, 6x6 grid+ Smartboard Yr 2/3/4

(8)
The children pick this up quickly once they grasp the concept of not repeating the number is any row, column and section. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK! Use the Smart board to show this, which recaps the Sudoku with shapes instead of numbers lesson which is best to do first (see my other resources for this.) I gave them the 4 by 4 grid first and once they marked it they could get the 6x6 grid. I gave them a sticker for each sheet they completed!

Egyptian Adventure Story on Smartboard

Egyptian Adventure Story on Smartboard

(21)
In the style of Pie Corbett I have created a simple story, in five paragraphs, for the children to learn off by heart by adding their own actions. Create a picture map to help remember it (There is an example on the Smartboard of one). Then the children 'hug&' the text by using the story from the sheet to write their own version by changing names and key words (the words to change are underlined and there are gaps for them to add their own words.) I have created a separate resource where they write their own adventure story from scratch, which follows on from this.

The main song they learn is from the Sing Up website 'Good to be me' which they can perform to the rest of the school. Please leave feedback! There are actions to learn too. There are detailed lesson plans and Smart board slides to support this. Other songs in this topic that the children learn to sing are &'This little light of mine&'; and 'Life is a wonderful thing&'. There are hyper links to all the songs-all on the Sing Up website.

Word problems- How many packets are needed? Yr3/4

(7)
Cut up these questions and put on the desks for the children to answer. They can record the answers in their book, making sure they write down the number of the question and use the answer sheet at the end to self mark. For each question they have to use their knowledge of counting in 3s, 5s, and 6s etc to work out how many packets are needed. For all the questions they have to buy extra packets as the number they need to does not fit in perfectly.

PROJECT:Design a fun indoor maths play area - KS2

(7)
This is a project designed to last for a week, but it could be longer, where the children can use their imaginations to plan an indoor play area for children with a maths theme to it. As designers they have to think about how a fun indoor area might teach children more about 2D and 3D shape, times tables, capacity and money. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK! Encourage them to research on the internet and use maths dictionaries to find out names of harder 2D/3D shapes etc so they are learning new things and consolidating their own skills at the same time.Use the photos to help generate ideas!

All children can have the same card. Words include right/left/clockwise/anti-clockwise/N/E/S/W etc with a little arrow or symbol next to each. Highlight or circle 4/5 words. Teacher mimes the word and children put their hand up to guess which word it is. If they have it tick or put a counter on it. Winner is first to get all 4/5 and stand up and shout BINGO!. Sticker for winner! Ideal starter/ plenary game. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK!
