There are two levels of work and a plan. There is a Smart board too but you don't need it. Ask them to let you check whether they are correct before sticking down.

Ancient Egypt instructions for mummification

(23)
Here are some detailed instructions, with pictures, to show how the Ancient Egyptians would have mummified a body. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK!Use to help explain this process to children. You can chop up the instructions without numbers on and they can re order them. Pretend they are embalmers and do some drama where they imagine following these steps to mummify a body! They can do it in pairs! The children really enjoy this, especially pretending to put make up on the mummy! They could write their own instructions once they are familiar with the process.

Please leave feedback! This is a poetry idea by the excellent Pie Corbett, to use with Key Stage 2, which I have made into easy to follow smart board slides to use with the class. I did this in Big Write and it was my most successful poetry lesson this year. Enjoy!

Children work in groups of 3 with one worksheet to record ideas. Rotate the pictures round, one for each group. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK!I had a replica coin and necklace as well. The children have to guess what they were for-some are easier that others. Use the Smartboard to reveal what the pictures are of at the end.

Twelfth Night Hot seating Malvolio Shakespeare

Ask the children to think of some questions to ask Malvolio, for example they could work with a partner to write at least 5 questions in their books. They need to understand the plot of the play.Teacher can hot seat as Malvolio. Use his 'thoughts&' below to help you answer as though you are him. Ask the children to draw him, use the pictures of Malvolio to help them, and write thought bubbles of what he is thinking.Give the vocabulary list (words that you have used) so they can magpie these and reward them if they include a certain number in their writing.

Multiplication Problem Solving+SmartboardYr 2/3/4

(6)
Children choose from a list of numbers and have to work out all the multiplication sums that could make that number in total. There is an answer sheet for them at the end and a plenary/reflection sheet. They can only multiply 2 numbers (but you could make it harder by allowing more) and they are told how many possible ways there are. if you use it PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK!

Making 3D Skeleton Shapes Challenge Yr 2/3/4/5

(20)
The children are introduced to the activity on the smart board slides and have to try to guess what the task is about. This is challenging as they will have to think for themselves. You need drinking straws and blue tac. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK! It helps the children to understand the vocabulary related to 3D shapes, such as shape names, 'edges' and &'vertices&'; and it aids their measuring skills too. There is a link on the slides to this activity which is taken from the nrich website. Take photos as you do the activity as the shapes are fragile.

Different Nets of Cubes Challenge Year 2/3/4/5

(13)
PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK! The children are given a net of a cube separated in two parts and they have to work out the different ways to stick the two parts together so that the two pieces make a cube when folded. It works well when the children work in pairs. There is another activity in case any of them solve it quickly, but it look them longer than I thought so you might not need the second activity. There is a link of the smart board slides to the activity and the sheets you will need, which are from the nrich maths website. Please leave feedback!

Victorian Factory Poetry create your own KS2/3 SB

(1)
You will need a Smartboard. Follow the slides to create a factory poem based on pictures and photographs focusing on the outside features of the factory. The slides take you though how to teach it. Create 5 or more lines following a structure e.g. The + adjective + noun + verb e.g. 'The callous chimney smoked..&' Then complete the line with a simile (like or as) or something else. This encourages them to use alliteration and personification. Use the useful adjectives sheet to extend their vocabulary. Please leave feedback!

Smartboard Write a Ghost Story KS2 video link

We do 'Surprise Writes&' in my school on Fridays, once every half term (usually we do &';Big Write'), where all year groups (Year 3 to 6) complete the same writing activity. The children and teachers do not know what it will be until that morning. This resource links to a TES video story start and there is a link on here. The children LOVED creating spooky stories from this! The idea is that they have very little help when they write so that it can be assessed.

This teaches children how to write 'spine' poems which I learned how to do on a Pie Corbett course. The Smart board explains exactly how to structure it and once you know how to write a spine poem it can be used to describe most things including animal and insects etc. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK! I have included pictures of the scare crows to print out and stick in their books with the poem.

There is a lesson plan to follow. The children read the first hand accounts of real evacuees and have to sort them into positive or negative experiences. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK! They can highlight the words that tell them whether the experience was good and bad. They can order them from most negative to most positive. Finally they can take a scene from one of the accounts and illustrate it with speech bubbles.

Writing vocabulary tips KS2 Useful for Year 6

(3)
These writing tips are posters/reminders designed to be placed around the classroom. They include synonyms for nice, beautiful, don't like, angry and really/very so you can teach children to avoid the most obvious &'every day&'; words. There is also one which encourages them to extend their sentences. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK!
