It also contains a ‘randomiser’ slide: when clicked a random moral problem is presented to the group. Uses: -P4C (Philosophy for kids) -Form time activities -R.S./Philosophy/Citizenship cover lessons -Debating societies -Making best use of spare time at the end of lessons Discussions follow one of four formats, each asking students to move from one side of the room or the other to make their position clear: teachers should then use questioning to foster a debate between students, encouraging them to present reasons for their choice and defend their position. Each of the 20 exam sections is half a full exam and takes 50 minutes for students to complete. Each of the 20 exam sections contain a standard set of questions including two 12-mark rubrics: a model answer for one of them is included for each assessment. Each of the 20 exam sections is accompanied by a mark-scheme. In short, in this bundle you get 20 exam sections, 20 mark-schemes, and 20 model 12-mark answers. This bundle should take care of most (if not all) of your GCSE Sociology assessment needs: students should ideally complete these 20 assessments over the 2-year course; data-collection of results allows for easy progress tracking. This download is useful for any teachers who are hoping to foster critical thinking skills in KS2 or KS3 students. This resource pack contains: A double-sided A3 poster/table that identifies, describes and exemplifies 32 common logical fallacies A 32 question ‘Logical Fallacy Quiz’ (with a teacher’s answer key) An ‘analysing and evaluating philosophical arguments’ activity’ The A3 poster/table is an excellent resource in and of itself and can be used for other activities in the teaching of critical thinking skills. The quiz is designed to be used alongside the table: students work in pairs or teams to identify examples of logical fallacies. There are 32 questions - which should be ample for a long lesson. This activity can be differentiated by changing team sizes and/or shortening the quiz (allowing for more reflection time). A smaller activity is also included: it introduces the idea of ‘philosophical arguments’, soundness, validity - and provides examples of simple philosophical arguments for young learners to analyse and evaluate. This resource is designed with KS2 and KS3 students in mind.

This bundle is for a collection of ‘Philosophy Boxes’ lessons/sessions. Each session comprises a P4C lesson/session that can be used 2-3 times with the same group. This contains the complete 20 sessions bundle designed for Primary School Teachers. It is tantamount to a complete cross-curricular P4C course and will be useful for countless hours of teaching across every subject. Many of the sessions are also great for tutor/form time. The Philosophy Boxes Method is a new approach to P4C designed for students in KS1, 2 & 3: it is graphically stimulating, engaging, and fun. This download is also suitable for older students: but the format was designed with younger students in mind. The aim of Philosophy Boxes is to bring philosophy and critical thinking into every subject at every level: we believe that any subject becomes philosophy when students are asked the right questions and when they think about a topic hard enough and on the deepest (most fundamental) level. The Philosophy Boxes Method presents students with a set of ‘mystery boxes’, when a student selects one of the boxes they are presented with 1 of 21 discussion/debate activities [that use 1 of 8 different formats]. The presentation has integrated AfL so that teachers can test knowledge at any point in the lesson. There are 10 different AfL slides to choose from. The design is colourful, animated, fun and engaging: all activities require movement and teachers can decide whether students are expressing their ideas purely verbally or by using post-it notes. The nature of the design is that it can be used for short sessions (5-10 minutes) or much longer sessions (up to 2 hours!) - it allows for classroom practitioners to be flexible and adaptable. It can, therefore, be used in lessons or as a tutor-time activity. This is a great metacognition activity to use at the end of your lessons! Download it for free and use it today! Description: This straightforward activity should be run at the end of a lesson: it’s a quick activity that encourages students to reflect on metacognitive factors that have helped them to learn or presented obstacles to learning. Students are presented with a question and move around the room to show their response, providing an opportunity for further metacognitive questioning from the teacher. How To Use: Simply run the PowerPoint Show at the end of your lesson (when there are 5-10 minutes remaining) Each slide presents your class with four options: they must move to different corners of the room to indicate their answer! Once students have moved: it is an ideal opportunity to ask questions that lead them towards insight surrounding their own learning and how they can increase their learning-power in future lessons.
