This lesson is aimed at looking at how the monarchy’s power changed under King Richard II. Students look at why the Peasant’s Revolt happened under king Richard. Students are challenged to think what this shows about the power of medieval monarchs. There is a GCSE styled question with sentence starters for the less able. There are challenge tasks to stretch the top end. There is also a literacy focus as well, where students need to correct literacy mistakes. There is also a model answer where students use it provide template and to redraft their work. They can also discuss what is good and how they could improve it.

I use this as a bank of worksheets to keep refreshing their understanding of the topic. When it comes to their exams students can print these off for revision. Choose which one would best fit your class A lesson that recaps the methods William used to keep control, culminating in students answering a GCSE style question about which method was the most important to William’s reign over England. The First lesson in a SOW intended for a three year GCSE looking at the AQA: America 1920 -1973. Students look at the impact of the first world war on America and the world, students investigate what the world was like before the war, they decide which country would be the best investment opportunity. They then investigate if they were right by looking at what the war did to the world. There is a GCSE question included with sentence starters for the less able and challenge tasks to stretch the top end. There is also a model answer for students to evaluate as a class or on their own.

A booklet that goes through the key time periods in the study of history of medicine. This can be used as a homework task for students to recap what they have learnt or given out as a revision task. I used this as a starter coming up to exams to get students to focus on their weakest areas. It includes a section for them to recap the key factors needed to explain why medicine improved. There are also boxes to allow students to plan questions.

A lesson that looks at the tactics of the Vietcong and evaluates their effectiveness against the USA. Students can choose to complete a worksheet or write a report using the info back. I like to put all the info in a brown envelope and stick the case file sticker to really make it a bit cheesy. Students then complete GCSE questions which have writing frames to aid lower ability. There are challenge tasks to stretch the top end.
