The entire Music Business in one, easy-to-use and interactive PowerPoint, complete with work booklet filled with questions, tasks, revision and 8 Mark Question practice. The idea behind this is that every student has their own copy and they take their time, working through various tasks and topics within the BTEC Music Industry Unit 1. It is designed to be delivered at home in the current lock-down and can be streamed from a teacher’s computer or sent to individual students for them to control and operate it themselves. There are videos, hidden object research games and examples of how everything links together. The resource covers all the roles and responsibilities of members of the Music Industry including: Record Companies, Recording Studios, Touring, Licenses, Unions, Management, Journalism, Venues, Promoters, Agents, Making Money and Contracts. There are also 2 interactive revision games included in the form of a Million Pound Drop style quiz and a Bingo Revision game. There are also numerous 8 Mark Questions in the work booklet and there are 5 exemplars in the PowerPoint. All you’ll need to do is download the PowerPoint file and then save it as a Slide Show and then send that file to the students. This way, they can access all the content without changing any of the information. After that, you’re away! I’ve found the best way to deliver it is to teach the content and then once a topic is completed (say Unions for example), direct the students to the page in the booklet and the slide on the PowerPoint and for them to use the booklet as their neat copy for future revision. I also managed to print off the booklets and get them sent home to students so they have something in front of them to work from but if this is not possible, try emailing it to them instead. Final note: this will only open and function 100% accurately in Microsoft PowerPoint. It will open in Google Slides but the functionality will be lost

This interactive and independent resource encourages the development of music appreciation and the understanding of keywords through listening to 50 pieces of music from 10 genres. Baroque, Romantic, Minimalism, Film, Jazz, Blues, Rock 'n’ Roll, Rock, Pop and Rap and Hip Hop are all included and it was made to compliment the Model Music Curriculum for Key Stage 3 but wasn’t necessarily led by it. Students will also learn over 80 keywords and techniques through listening to the pieces and will have a work booklet with leading questions for them to answer and develop their understanding as they listen to new music. Nearly 50 of the keywords have specifically made audio examples included on the keywords screen to help further consolidate the knowledge in a more concise way, as well as the 50 pieces of music. This resource would be perfect for listening exercises at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5, or as a consolidation of keywords and techniques / theory scheme of work at any of these ability levels. The aim is that the students complete this work independently either in short segments (as a starter or plenary in a lesson perhaps), the main body of the lesson if covering a specific genre, as cover work for when you’re running the Christmas show or even as a weekly homework log where students are set a different genre each week to expand their musical knowledge and appreciation. I’ve designed it to be flexible for all of these possibilities and more but the focus is on the students listening first, understanding second and then answering questions third. You could also use the glossary of terms in the back of the booklets as a weekly or termly test where students write the definitions of the keywords next to the term as they all match the keywords pages on the PowerPoint. Each of the keywords is defined as you hover over the word on the PowerPoint and there is a bank of keywords organised in four sections: Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, Key Stage 5 and Music Technology. I toiled with where to place some keywords, but I’ve based their final positions on the notion that a lot of Key Stage 3 students have missed a large chunk of their music lessons over the last 2 years so might be less familiar with some of the more complicated words. However, there is nothing stopping students and teachers delivering and learning the more complicated techniques earlier on in the school year. It is all about listening and discovering information through independent work and it is flexible for any circumstance, and I hope it creates curiosity in more complex techniques. An interactive, differentiated and enjoyable way to teach and learn about Music Theory at the click of a button for Key Stage 3 students. This resource is entirely clickable and encourages independent learning through the discovery of Music Theory, specifically aimed at Key Stage 3 Music students. Topics such as Notes on the Staff, Musical Elements, Instruments of the Orchestra and Rhythm are incorporated here in a style that students will find engaging and enjoyable, with the main purpose of encouraging independence in the classroom. Students can operate their own programme and work through the tasks and resources at their own pace, re-visiting sections for further understanding as well as taking on more complex tasks to push the higher ability. A fully interactive and independent scheme of work on the Planets, Solar System, Plate Tectonics, Forces and Geology designed for Key Stage 2 and 3 students. A Board Game for BTEC Music students to learn how to plan their own country-wide tour. This resource is a fun and interactive way for students to understand how to plan a tour around the U.K whilst getting to grips with what it would be like for a booking agent to do this in real life! Students will have to navigate Transportation, Venue Hire, Merchandise Sales and Ticketing as well as planning a Marketing Strategy and utilising Promotional ideas. There are some things to consider thrown in along the way to make sure students are planning their tour in the most profitable way possible as well as some rewards for arranging their tour with good strategy. Students will need 2 plastic counters (or coins) to chart their progress across the Map and the Calendar respectively as well as a calculator and pencil to fill in their progress along their journey and keep an accurate log of their profits. Students will also get a chance to practice Maths as they figure out percentages or their profits along the way, The aim of the game is for students to make the biggest profit they can by manipulating their moves to give them the best possible outcomes. Some gigs at Venues will make a profit and some will make a loss but there are many different strategies to take when planning the tour. There are three A3 sized pages: a Map to be used as the playing board, a Calendar to plan your progress on and an Instructions page which explains how the game works which includes a detailed example. Once the Instructions and Maps have been printed, they can be re-used over and over again but to re-set the game, re-print the Calendars as this is what the students write their progress and Tour on. The game takes roughly 2 lessons to complete but can be done quicker when students are more familiar with it. The key concept is that they are implementing already learned information about Touring and Venue hire into a practical environment. Enjoy!
