Additionally, pupils should be entered under their respective team name. Times & Distances Consists of a pupil overview of times ran and distances thrown or jumped. Pupils should be listed next to their team and whether they are top ability (pool 1) or lower ability (pool 6). Class Points Consists of the points overview which will automaticallybe added into the overview sheet when inputted. Pupils should be entered next to their team and ability pool (exactly the same as sheet 2). But this time, you will use either the ‘English Schools Athletics Association’ (ESSA) points scoring systems or ‘International Amatuer Athletics Foundation’ (IAAF) points scoring system. ESSA Junior Girls Shows a table of the English Schools Athletics Association points scoring times and conditions. ESSA Inter Girls Shows a table of the English Schools Athletics Association points scoring times and conditions. School Records Shows my current high schools records that have been set and the year they were set. If they are beaten I would update them and that person would recieve 15 bonus points. X’s mark those records that are unable to be set at my school. Update them for your won school or compete against mine. IAAF International Amatuer Athletics Foundation’ (IAAF) points scoring system. I’ve also included a sports field plan and 3 different group timetables (up to a maximum of 12 in each group). You could order some ‘Ice Pops’ for the children (also integrated into the plan). World Cup Maths Puzzles!

World Cup Maths Puzzles!

These short and snappy puzzles are perfect for engaging all of the World Cup lovers in your class with a wide range of maths problems! Using real-life statistics from FIFA World Cups past and present, students approach a number of varied maths topics, whilst also gaining valuable information about their favourite teams and players. I have used these resources with a number of KS2 and KS3 classes, and have found that they work great for morning mental maths challenges or lesson starters/ fillers. Some of the maths topics covered include: statistics, percentages, charts and graphs, data handling, averages, ratios, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, estimation and problem solving, critical thinking, and fractions. Some of the specific tasks involved include: working out the goals to games ratio of some of the best strikers, finding out which teams have the best goal difference, creating data to present performance, and comparing player statistics over different tournaments. There are 30 tasks in total, in which each the major World Cup nations are focused upon in at least one activity each. The tasks are also separated by difficulty into ‘Beginner’,‘Intermediate’, and ‘Difficult’ tasks (refer to the B, I, or D symbols in the top left of each activity). All images within this resource are licensed for commercial use, and images are cited on the final slide.

Swimming Skill Descriptor (Year 7-11)

Swimming Skill Descriptor (Year 7-11)

How does the assessment rubric work? *Swimming Skill Descriptor * to be used for years 7-11. Produced in a user friendly format for both teachers and students alike. Accommodates both an attainment 8 format of assessment and (or) a sub level grading system. How does the assessment rubric work? •The difficulty of the skills are grouped from easy – hard. •The progress continuum along the left hand side indicates the main skills that each student at that age group should be able to perform. •The skill level number links to attainment 8 and should allow teachers to accurately calculate individual levels. Eg. Student ‘X’ in Year 7 is able to perform all the Year 7 skills in addition to 2 year 8 skills. His/ her level is therefore 4+4+4+4+4+5+5 /8= 4.4. From this you are able to see that this student is .4 above their expected grade level. • If using a sublevel grading system, the scores should be calculated using the following method. 1-2 skills from each table should result in a C or .3 being awarded e.g. If a student achieved 2 skills from the level 4 table, then their score is 4C or 4.3. If student is able to achieve 3-4 skills from a table, their score should be displayed as a B or .5. e.g. If a students achieved 4 skills from level 5 table, then their score should be displayed as 5B or 5.5. If all skills are achieved student should be award A or .8. e.g. a student who is able to perform all level 6 skills should be awarded a score of 6A or 6.8. Disclaimer Please note: Individual schools will have different demographics and cohorts. As such you may wish to change the grade boundaries/ expectations to make these more easily attainable or harder. This is done at the schools’ discretion. Furthermore, you may find that some students may not be able to perform all of their expected levels but yet still achieve 1 or 2 skills from other areas. This is unavoidable and as such requires you to use your professional judgement as to award the correct level. Like all assessment tools, this is fluid and can be adapted as and when you feel the need to.
