Le systeme solaire extension worksheet

Le systeme solaire extension worksheet

An extension task which I keep on the wall of my classroom throughout the year. Students can go to the Challenge Wall whenever they have completed a task which the rest of the class are still working on. This task contains a text about the solar system and activities which will help students to break the text into chunks and begin to understand a great deal of it. A good way of getting students to practise their reading skills independently and a good way of extending their vocabulary.

PRIMARY FRENCH - 20 FACTS TASK CARDS, RECORDING SHEETS, DISCUSSION ACTIVITY (1)

PRIMARY FRENCH - 20 FACTS TASK CARDS, RECORDING SHEETS, DISCUSSION ACTIVITY (1)

PERFECT FOR INTRODUCING AND EXPLORING FRANCE! This resource really does help to create a lively language learning environment, and offer a popular alternative to more traditional, teacher-led ’information about France’ lessons. Children can develop their knowledge of FRANCE - and through guided whole-group discussion - their home/host country too, in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, in part independently of the teacher. There is a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing and spelling, and is a great way of aligning language learning with developing literacy skills in English. This resource comprises the following: 20 FACTS CARDS - there are four facts in each of the following topic groups: GEOGRAPHY, COUNTRY, LANDMARKS, LANGUAGE and FOOD. There are four cards per A4 sheet, making them the perfect size for young learners. The language on each of the cards ranges from fairly basic to more advanced, which challenges and enhances children’s English skills. RECORDING SHEET CHALLENGE LEVEL ONE - there are two options: either two or four fact recording boxes per A4 page. Children read their selected facts, and copy the information in the boxes. Encourage children to be as accurate as possible with their spelling and punctuation, to pay particular attention to the spelling and accents of the FRENCH words that are included, and of course to make sure they are recording the facts in their best handwriting. RECORDING SHEET CHALLENGE LEVEL TWO - there are also two options: two or four fact recording boxes in this challenge level. However, there is a more open-ended task: responding to the question “What did you learn?”. This requires children to read their fact card, process the information, and then recreate it in their own words, describing the fact in the context of what they have learned. WHOLE-GROUP PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION ACTIVITY, with every fact included in the presentation resource - I’ve found this a really useful means of encouraging and stimulating classroom discussion. Children can reflect on what they already know about FRANCE, and share it with their peers. Use the facts themselves to prompt discussion about the home/host country, eg “What is our capital city? Is it also our largest city?”, which really does create a successful cross-curricular learning environment. SETS 1 & 2 with 40 facts which also include ART & ARTISTS, HISTORY and FAMOUS PEOPLE are also available as a combined pack at the special price of £5.00: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/primary-french-40-facts-task-cards-recording-sheets-discussion-activity-11700399 This pack comprises 5 non-editable files in a zipped format. Please read the TERMS OF USE carefully - the pack is copyright, and for single-teacher/purchaser use only. MERCI BEACOUP ET BON VOYAGE!

Days of the week extension worksheet

Days of the week extension worksheet

It's vital to provide extension tasks for those new Y7s who already know some French, whilst others are still grappling with the vocab, so I created a worksheet to get them thinking about where the words for the days of the week come from and then asks them to work out the order of the Spanish and Italian days of the week too. The aim is to show them that by learning one language they will be able to understand a little of other languages too!

Life cycle of a butterfly in French bundle

Life cycle of a butterfly in French bundle

The “Life Cycle of a Butterfly – French” unit comes with the following: • unit summary with suggested uses • dyslexia-friendly PowerPoint introducing the four stages of a butterfly, the word for “becomes” and simple sentences outlining the life cycle of a butterfly • clear vocabulary list • set of four labelled illustrated flashcards showing the different stages of the life cycle • four colouring sheets showing each stage • two differentiated cutting, sticking and colouring sheets • life cycle of a butterfly matching cards • two differentiated colouring and matching worksheets • sentence writing worksheet Suggested use: 1. Use the PowerPoint to introduce the life cycle and check for comprehension (slide 3). Use slides 4-7 to introduce the four stages of the life cycle in French. Using slide 8, see if pupils can guess the meaning of “devient”. If the class is coping well, use slides 914 to introduce the five stages in sentences. *Make sure you have the “notes” section visible for additional vocabulary support if you need it. 2. Slide 15 onwards can be used as an identification game. Show the class the photos and see if they can identify in French which part of the life cycle is shown. 3. Flashcards can be used as part of a wall display or as a stimulus for an art-based project for pupils to create their own images. 4. The colouring sheets can be completed using a range of media. 5. The matching and cutting and sticking worksheets can be used to check comprehension. There are different levels available to allow for differentiation. 6. Matching cards are a more supported comprehension activity as each part of the life cycle has a unique edge to help with matching. 7. The sentence writing sheet can be used with or without the central information. 8. FOLLOW UP: Pinterest has some amazing craft ideas to create beautiful butterflies.
