This resource has been extremely useful with low achieving boys. The strips can be printed A3 and laminated so that students can use a whiteboard pen to tick off each step on the 'skill'. Say a Sentence 'Splash' Flashcards for pupils with autism and special education needs, to combine motor skills with speech. Your pupils will take turns to 'Splash' a card (spray water with a plant bottle) and then 'Say a Sentence' using the sentence prompt on the flashcard. Alternatively you can scatter these cards on the floor for your pupils to 'Splash' in a puddle (jump or stamp on the cards) and then say a sentence. This set contains 60 flashcards: 30 with a noun phrase as prompt 30 with a verb phrase as prompt The noun & verb cards are colour coded for easy classroom organisation. Preparation: just print, laminate & cut. Please note: these cards do not contain any pictures. Some pupils who have become used to working with flashcards & visuals can become 'picture dependent' when making sentences, only saying exactly what they see, rather than creating their own sentences. There is a ‘how to guide’ to make a frog and in doing so the frog evolves through the stages of its life cycle to enhance students understanding through this practical activity. It has visual images to reinforce the understanding of the concepts. It was design for special needs but would work very well for early mainstream students.
