Activity Sheet : Construct a cube

Activity Sheet : Construct a cube

This is a fun and simple activity sheet that lets students explore the creation of a 3D shape (cube) from a flat 2D shape "net". The sheet has some words on it that wrap around some of the sides and blank squares for the students to insert their own words. Please give feedback and review this resource if you liked it. Follow me in tes if you want to be notified when I have more resources available. I plan to have more free and paid resources that are project based, hands-on and linked to the curriculum.

Into Graphics - Composition

Into Graphics - Composition

In this unit we explore composition and balance in images. To do this we investigate: • what is good composition in an image • the techniques used to achieve effective composition • visual weight • forms of balance: symmetric, asymmetrical, radial and mosaic • forms of symmetry: reflective, rotational, and translational • photographic balance: color, tonal and conceptual balance • the rule of thirds • improving balance using cropping in Photoshop. The concepts introduced will be for photographs, but they apply equally to any other visual medium – from painting to web pages.

First Day of School - 3 Leg Table Team Building Activity (Back to School)

First Day of School - 3 Leg Table Team Building Activity (Back to School)

This project is a great way to get students moving, interacting and working as a team the first day of school. It also is an exceptionally memorable activity that students remember and talk about throughout the year. Set the tone of your classroom as a student led, cooperative and supportive classroom as students work together to build a 3 leg table that will support a stack of books using limited supplies. You can use this as a first day of school activity or as a one-day activity at any time during the year. This lesson was created for 7th and 8th grade, but could also be used successfully in upper elementary grades. Files included: • Teacher Instructions • 3 Leg Table Building Activity Instructions (printable for teams and display sized, suitable for a projector or SmartBoard) • Team Drawing Sheet

Autumn Leaves Mosaics Templates & Instructions

Autumn Leaves Mosaics Templates & Instructions

Make your empty Kleenex boxes into a pretty craft! Instructions, tips, four small templates and four large templates are included here. This is a fun way to re-use thin coloured cardboard from common household packaging! Larger cardboard mosaics can be completed by younger children, and smaller ones by older children, teens or adults. Use your completed mosaic to decorate the cover of a notebook, make a card, as a wall hanging, or give it as a gift! Cardboard Mosaics and other similar crafts (such as cut and paste puzzles) are excellent tools for developing fine motor skills. This in turn can improve a student’s performance in other areas such as playing a musical instrument, writing neatly, attention to detail, patience, and the ability to concentrate for longer periods of time. Go slowly and be generous with your praise – fine work takes practise and perseverance!
