The Hungry Caterpillar Story Cards

The Hungry Caterpillar Story Cards

Story Cards inspired by “The Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle for ages 18 months + Story Cards are a great resource to inspire children to be creative, imaginative and spark a love of story telling! This pack includes 41 story cards based on Eric Carle’s “The Hungry Caterpillar”. Story cards includes images relating to the story, numeracy and days of the week cards so this resource can be used for multiple learning activities. Part of my designs include back of card printed images themed to the game. This feature is optional to print but makes your resources unique. Story cards have been designed for little learners to easily hold and interact with the cards. I recommend printing this resource on thick card or laminate to allow multiple uses. This resource will help promote: story telling, sequencing, use of language, communication, imagination, creativity, memory recall, numeracy and days of the week. Please ensure young children are supervised with small objects. Enjoy & spark play! Like my work? Follow me on facebook at sparkplayaus Please help me by leaving feedback

Huge Gingerbread Man Resources and Activities

Huge Gingerbread Man Resources and Activities

30 pages of fun … To support the topic of the Gingerbread Man! My class adore this story, so I created Gingerbread Man themed resources for them to use to support my teaching and their learning. In this pack you will find… Gingerbread Man speech bubbles to encourage creative writing (2 versions included). Lined paper with a Gingerbread Man border for children to write on (my class wrote their own versions of the story!). Numbers on Gingerbread Men (I use these as flash cards, ask the children to place them into number order, daily interventions, etc). Cut and stick the gingerbread men into number order activity sheet (two versions: numbers 1-10 and numbers 11-20). Design your own Gingerbread Man sheet. Lovely Gingerbread Man themed bunting to decorate your classroom (mine is in my role play area and my writing area!). Pre writing trace the Gingerbread Man’s tracks sheet to develop fine motor skills, pencil grip and control. Number lines (two versions: numbers 1-10 and numbers 1-20). 56 Gingerbread men addition cards (completely differentiated to target a range of mathematical abilities from addition with numbers under 5 to addition with numbers over 20). I hope your class enjoy these resources as much as mine did! The Teacher Traveller

GCSE English Language, Paper 1 Question 5, AQA - writing Haiku's

GCSE English Language, Paper 1 Question 5, AQA - writing Haiku's

This is a fun, lively student centered lesson which revolves around team work activities and allowing the students to push their creativity and imagination. Many students struggle with imagination when it comes to question 5 and many panic, especially as it holds so many marks. This lesson uses images to inspire a range of vocabulary, language features and ideas for a storyline all within the planning of a haiku, therefore underpinning some of the essential skills needed to answer this question. This is quick paced session with a range of 10 minute activities which encourage independent learning and team work. I found that many students created a range of fantastic haiku’s which I made into a booklet for the students to take away with them. This sort of thing also scores brownie points with the managers and Ofsted but also helps to develop a sense of achievement and self confidence in English, which many students lack. It is also great for the students to know their work in English has a use other than for passing an exam and many feel pride in that. This lesson covers: planning for written work, synonyms, metaphors, similes, personification, hyperbole, long short sentences, imagination but can be adapted to cover much more if so desired. It ends with a peer marking assessment based on the Facebook liking system using emoticons and a chance to act like an examiner and identify language features. There is a homework task, which if desired, could be turned into a in class task other than homework. Hope it helps
