This will help your students prepare for the Unit 5 exam this January 2018. I have provided a sheet of key vocabulary - very useful for IAL students. I have also provided exam style questions which cover areas in the article students may be questioned on. I have provided an answer sheet. *I have attached a copy of the Edexcel article - Chasing the Cure: A decade of Parkinson´s disease. Forces - Weight and Mass KS3_Fully Resourced Lesson

Forces - Weight and Mass KS3_Fully Resourced Lesson

This fully animated, often humorous PowerPoint looks at the relationship between mass and weight. There is also a worksheet carefully matched to the demands of the PowerPoint, an anticipation guide for starter and plenary and a Flip-it where pupils write the question instead of the answer, then try their questions out on each other. Areas covered are:  What is mass  Gravity causes weight  Gravitational field strength in N/kg  Mass and weight on different planets  Gravity reduces with distance from planet  W = m x g The PowerPoint ends with a five question fully animated quiz which can be used as an exit ticket activity. Pupils write their selection of the answer (A, B, or C) on a white board white provides feedback on the quality of learning for the teacher. Please note that the PowerPoint previews show the slide animations. Not all the content is on the slide at the same time!! The worksheets also include an activity to reinforce learning with pupils writing down the three most important things they have learned and sharing their choice with another pupil. The lesson ends with self-assessment of performance and target setting. The resources Word do not preview well but they download and print perfectly. If you leave a review, email me with your choice of another of my resources up to the value of £5 and I will send it to you by email within 24 hours. elfofftheshelf@gmail.com A fully resourced introduction to Forces lesson is available at: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/forces-introduction-fully-resourced-lesson-11781771 or just the PowerPoint at: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/forces-ks3-introduction-powerpoint-only-11781752 A fully animated and resourced forces enquiry is also available https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/ks3-forces-enquiry-investigation-11755546 Why not have a look at my shop? https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/penyrheol1 More images of the PowerPoint can be seen at: www.pinterest.com/elfofftheshelfresources Visit me on YouTube at: www.youtube.com/channel/UCjkDMTqwMietZaJn6iuVASg

AQA new specification-Exchanging materials-B1.10

AQA new specification-Exchanging materials-B1.10

Exchanging materials lesson created in accordance to the NEW AQA Specification (9-1). Designed for a higher ability separates class, although content can be adjusted to suit any ability. Includes: slide animations, practice questions with answers on slides, worksheet, and homework (with MS) AQA spec link: 4.1.3.1 Relevant chapter: B1 Cell structure and transport. AQA Biology third edition textbook-Page 22-23 Specification requires students to know the following; A single-celled organism has a relatively large surface area to volume ratio. This allows sufficient transport of molecules into and out of the cell to meet the needs of the organism. Students should be able to calculate and compare surface area to volume ratios. Students should be able to explain the need for exchange surfaces and a transport system in multicellular organisms in terms of surface area to volume ratio. Students should be able to explain how the small intestine and lungs in mammals, gills in fish, and the roots and leaves in plants, are adapted for exchanging materials. In multicellular organisms, surfaces and organ systems are specialised for exchanging materials. This is to allow sufficient molecules to be transported into and out of cells for the organism’s needs. The effectiveness of an exchange surface is increased by: •• having a large surface area •• a membrane that is thin, to provide a short diffusion path •• (in animals) having an efficient blood supply •• (in animals, for gaseous exchange) being ventilated.

9-1 Edexcel Plant structures and their function revision mat

9-1 Edexcel Plant structures and their function revision mat

*Emphasises on key words, labelling and recalling information! Looks back at transporting of substances, covers exam style questions and gives questions on the core practical of the algae balls!* I made this revision mat by hand. I couldn't find much in terms on revision so decided to made one that combines everything for 'plant structures and their functions' in the combined science course (Biology 2 topic 6) . Students found it very useful in helping them to revise - it took them all lesson to complete. I have also made one for the topic of health and disease, radioactivity, energy and forces plus electrolysis!
