GCSE Role Play Practice - Airport

This is a lesson to develop the GCSE Speaking exam element of the role play. There includes a whole class role play activity. Pupils go to different airlines around the classroom and ask for the price of different tickets based on if they want a return flight, baggage or food on-board. They then need to visit check in and find out when their flight departs. This resource gets every pupil involved and practicing real-world language. The whole-lesson PowerPoint guides pupils through the dialog in preparation for the whole-class activity. There is also a role play card example as a plenary. Pupils also complete their own passport and use it during the role play. Enjoy!

Partner speaking activity. Each student has a half page with 8 pictures of food. First, in the top row they make a smile or frown to indicate their like of that food. Then partners take turns asking their partner in French, if he likes it. Record answer. Directions are in French and in English on the worksheet. Can be used for any language; just change title and directions.

Activities Speaking activity 1

This is a partner speaking activity. Give students 1-2 minutes to draw lines from the name of a person to a picture of an activity and then to a day of the week. Students then take turns making sentences telling what each person is doing on each day. For example, “John rides a bike on Tuesday.” The partner must listen to the sentence and draw a line connecting those items. Names are in French, days are in English, but easy to edit so it can be used for any language.
