KS5 German: Introduction to the Passive (using recipes and eliciting)

KS5 German: Introduction to the Passive (using recipes and eliciting)

A really solid introduction to the passive voice (and another of my successful interview lessons)! Warning: many example sentences are based on recipes for e.g. Lebkuchen/Gluehwein - do not teach this on an empty stomach! There is enough for two lessons here, or perhaps one lesson and a homework. First lesson: focus is on UNDERSTANDING the passive voice, in the present tense only. Agents using 'von' are also touched upon. (.ppt and handout 1) Second lesson: the focus turns now to using the passive in a range of tenses: present, imperfect and perfect. This worksheet provides systematic practice in the style of a real-life situation.

GERMAN CHRISTMAS NUMBERS 0-31 TASK CARDS

GERMAN CHRISTMAS NUMBERS 0-31 TASK CARDS

PERFECT FOR CREATING A FESTIVE FEEL IN YOUR CLASSROOM AND IDEAL FOR DEVELOPING GERMAN LANGUAGE SKILLS AS WELL AS PRACTICING AND REVISING GERMAN NUMBERS 0-31 - 36 CHALLENGE CARDS WITH RECORDING SHEET AND FULL ANSWER KEY! GERMAN CHRISTMAS NUMBERS 0-31 TASK CARDS really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of GERMAN numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling numbers in GERMAN. The cards are useful not only for a focus on Numbers 0-31, but also as a starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as often as you can in lessons during the run-up to CHRISTMAS, as the goal is not simply to learn how to count in GERMAN, but also to enjoy working with GERMAN, and to feel confident about doing so. The questions range in complexity and challenge, and are great for honing numeracy skills too - especially if calculators are not allowed! The questions and design provide lessons with a real festive feel - I’ve included a mini-reference list to help students with their GERMAN CHRISTMAS words - one or two per small group of students is sufficient. The cards do look great printed in color, though I’ve also included a B&W version to help keep costs down. The resource comprises the following 6 files: * 2 sets (color/B&W) of 36 cards, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Print, laminate and cut out. Depending on how long you want the activity to last for, choose a particular number of cards per small group of students, and place them in a tin, bowl or small box so that students can easily select a card, and then replace at the end of the activity. You can simply place all the cards in the bowl/box and let students work their way through, either in a single lesson, or across a series of lessons - I’ve found 10-15 minutes across several lessons can work really well. Students do need to remember to file their recording sheets carefully! * 2-page answer recording sheet (x2 - color/B&W). Best printed double-sided. * 2-page answer key (x2—color & B&W), again best printed double-sided, and laminated for longevity. One answer key for each small group is sufficient. Students find this reference sheet really useful - download it for free here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-numbers-0-31-reference-sheet-11759027 The resource comprises 6 non-editable files in a zipped format. Please read the TERMS OF USE carefully - the resource is copyright, and for single-teacher/purchaser use only. VIELEN DANK UND FROHES WEIHNACHTSFEST!
