Claim the parcel translation game Los Pasatiempos New GCSE Viva AQA

Claim the parcel translation game Los Pasatiempos New GCSE Viva AQA

Claim the parcel translation game Activity for revising different verb tenses and topics from new GCSE AQA books. You have a table with different verbs tenses/sentences and project it on your interactive whiteboard/wall. In groups of 2 (max 3) they write the answer in Spanish to one of the parcels/boxes on their mini white boards, come to you at the front of the class (you check) and if they have the answer correct they can claim the parcel/box. You write their names/team name on a post it notes and stick it over the parcel/box on the interactive whiteboard. Then, no one can do this parcel/box anymore. The winner is the group to have most parcels/boxes claimed at the end. Works well as end of module revision or translation practice. Don't forget to feedback!

Skill organiser for Spanish GCSE (9-1)

Skill organiser for Spanish GCSE (9-1)

A resource designed to be displayed/given to students which outlines the timings, marks awarded and success strategies on how to approach the new exams. There are some key structures for students to learn alongside the tips on how to approach each question. (Thank you to the author of the Translate in 8 idea- apologies for not crediting but I cannot remember where I found the original resource) The Top 10 box on the writing H has been left blank for students/teachers to write key structures for students- this could be done as a class or individually e.g. for my most able student, these are subjunctive phrases and idioms but for my less able, it is set structures such as I went, it was, I will go etc.

KS4 Spanish- Developing Translation Skills for GCSE (Edexcel & AQA)

KS4 Spanish- Developing Translation Skills for GCSE (Edexcel & AQA)

N.B. This lesson is designed to work in preparation for translation from Spanish into English, centering on Section C Translation in the new Edexcel Spanish GCSE specification. This can be used as well for the AQA exam board as they also have a translation section from Spanish-English. - Lesson includes many translation strategies and tips, but focuses on developing the skill of 'naturalisation' in English (i.e. translating to ensure that the English sounds correct and natural, without adding or removing information from the source text). - Shows students how to practically use the skill of naturalisation through step-by-step tasks. - Includes tips and examples of how to translate more challenging language, such as Spanish place and food names. - Features differentiated tasks for both Foundation and Higher exams. - Lesson includes a new GCSE-style translation task (SP-EN) with an area for peer evaluation comments and with respective mark schemes. - PowerPoint slides provide comments for the teacher with explanations on how each task might be delivered and any vital information to support the students. - Questions for students to consider throughout concerning how they translate to encourage meta-cognition of their steps for translation.

GCSE New Specification Speaking Mat & Cards

GCSE New Specification Speaking Mat & Cards

This is a resource I have put together for my Y11 preparing for the new spec GCSE (specifically EdExcel). The slides are meant to be printed off double sided & laminated to make cards that can be re-used again and again for learning & revision purposes. Slides 1 &2 make a speaking mat that students can use to revise from or to have beside them while they work on role plays/photos/general discussion. I based the cards on the general conversation questions that could come up for each topic & on the other side of each one are potential 'follow up' questions that could be asked to each initial Q. (As has been stated in meetings about the speaking exam, students are expected to have a fluid conversation which all links together neatly). I hope it helps.
