This is a plan for an assembly on Advent, with a focus on preparing for Christmas. There is an optional simple PowerPoint on Advent traditions included. The plan is easy to follow and requires no resources, so is perfect for using at the last minute!
I like leading assemblies that are interactive, engaging and relevant to the children’s lives. So this assembly involves using an anecdote about a December when you prepared for Christmas in all the wrong ways. You can use the example in the plan or use an anecdote from your own childhood. The children are then encouraged to think about how they can prepare for Christmas by thinking about others. There is a lot of opportunity for children to think about their own experiences and to feedback. There is also an example prayer/reflection to finish with. This is a 5 lesson French unit for total beginners, perfect to use with KS2. It teaches children greetings, feelings, saying their name and talking about where they live. All of the lessons are highly interactive and allow children to practise a range of language skills.
There is a PowerPoint for each lesson which includes an audio version of each French word or phrase to make it easier for anyone to be able to teach the lessons. You can also play the PowerPoints without the audio.

This is a plan and resources for a French lesson to use with KS2. It involves children learning the vocabulary to describe the landscape in different French speaking countries e.g. In Guadeloupe there are beaches. The children are taught sentences to describe eight French speaking countries or regions. The plan could be used for an individual lesson, or as part of a longer unit on France and French speaking regions.

There are a mixture of numeracy, literacy, phonics and art activities perfect for the end of term. Examples include counting carol singers, writing acrostic poems and completing sequences among many others. Children can work independently on activities during this busy part of the year or they could be used as part of a whole lesson. A colour and black and white version of the 30 page booklet is included.
A great way to keep learning going right up to the end of term. I used this booklet with my year 1 class last year and they really enjoyed it!
