2 word document worksheets based on the passé composé (with etre and avoir). Both are translation exercises, one with 14 sentences and the other with 15 sentences. Sentences are in English and must be translated to French. Could be used in class, for assessment or for homework.

A hand out with statements based on alcohol which is very useful for answering opinion pieces in French. Could also be used for preparing advanced students for oral exam. Word document.

Adjectives: The first hand out explains how to make adjectives agree in gender and in number and also gives examples. It is a two page word document and is appropriate for all levels. The second document is an exam (could also be used as a class activity or as homework) and has two sections; first section is a simple French to English translation and second section is a grid in which students must write out the adjectives in feminine and plural form. Also attached is a worksheet in which students must insert the correct form of the adjective in each sentence and then translate each sentence. Could also be used as an exam.

A 66 slide PPT based on Rivers. Introduction to rivers/key terms/stages of a river. Explanation of fluvial processes of erosion and transportation. Landforms of fluvial erosion and deposition. How people interact with rivers. Flooding - Case Study of River Shannon flooding 2015-2016. There are lots of diagrams/illustrations and videos embedded into the ppt. There are also several ‘to-do’/‘homework’ slides which direct the students to their textbook or activity book. We use ‘Geography in Action’ but these slides can be adapted to suit your own class/books. Also included is a self-assessment cloze test which summarises the chapter.

A grid 6 x 6 with a variety of questions that may come up in an oral exam. I print and laminate these grids. Students work in pairs or small groups to play the game. Each pair will need two different coloured dice. They roll the dice and answer the question corresponding to the numbers on the dice. They take it in turns to ask/answer the questions. I use this game as a way of revising for the oral exam or for practicing oral French. Most questions are suitable for Junior Cert or Leaving Cert but questions can be changed to suit the needs and ability of your class.

A 9-slide PPT on the Six Nations with focus on Ireland and France. Includes an translation exercise based on rugby vocab as well as a small comprehension exercise using a short factfile on 4 players. Also includes an infographic from World Rugby to bring in some numeracy - this is accompanied by a ‘Do you understand’ slide in which the students are given some figures from the infographic and they must state to what each one refers. A ‘find someone who’ activity which can be used to get to know a new class or to facilitate active learning, group work, to get the students moving around the class. Great activity for getting students speaking en français.

A gapfill exercises on the importance of sport, looking at physical, mental and other benefits. Once corrected, this piece will serve as a sample answer for an opinion piece on the topic. Also attached is the full sample answer. Can be used as a pair or group reading activity or comprehension.

A word document which contains key phrases for the French Letter (Junior Cert standard). Phrases are under headings e.g. family, friends, the weekend, pastimes etc... so that they are easy to find. English and French are used for each phrase. This is a go-to handout for students when writing French letters and should cover the majority of content needed for Higher level and ordinary level. Could also be used to prep students for their oral exam as it covers most topics that come Up in the oral. Also attached is a short PPT to introduce the letter to higher level students. Students must translate vocab from French to English, Match up French/English phrases/vocab, translate sentences and describe their own house and bedroom. Differentiates between vertical and high/low oblique aerial photographs, using examples.
