Fully resourced lesson for exploring Act 1 Scene 2 of ‘Sweet Bird of Youth’. The lesson includes a PPT with notes for lesson plan and focuses on conversation features and what character language reveals about them. There are clear and detailed notes on the scene for staring task as well as opportunities for drama, language features to sort and extracts to annotate. Originally planned for an Cambridge International AS group, this could easily be adapted for other syllabuses and age groups. I would really appreciate any feedback.

Originally written for iGCSE students but could be used and adapted for other syllabus and age range. This lesson is an introduction to descriptive writing and takes students through building a description, using the senses and other literary resources and building this up in stages. Very interactive; including carousel activities, music stations, sweet tasting and extracts from popular fiction for example.

A lesson originally created for Cambridge A-level students but could easily be adapted for other key stages and syllabuses. The lesson explores Act 1.3 and Act 1.4, considering the characteristics of Isabella and the Duke, differing styles of leadership within the play, the use and effect of rhyming couplets and the theme of power as explored in Act 1. The PPT lesson is fully annotated for teachers and includes homework, video links and interactive activities.
