This is a twenty-nine page PowerPoint that is designed to be used with learners who are due to complete their English Functional Skills writing examination. It is designed for L1 and L2 learners, however, can be used to teach Entry 3 learners. This module is: Letter writing. The PowerPoint is a step-by-step guide of how to write and format a formal letter. At the end of the presentation, there are two letter writing tasks for learners to attempt. For one of the letter writing tasks I have given on-screen ‘tips’ on how to plan the content of the letter and how to ‘bulk out’ a draft in order to raise the learners word count. The PowerPoints contents include: How to write a formal letter What to include in a formal letter Sample assessment questions How to plan your letters content and how to ‘bulk out’ your writing. A booklet is also attached with the PPT letter writing texts included and a 1 page overview of how to correctly format a letter.

This is a fifteen paged booklet that I designed for adult learners who were completing a Level 1 City and Guilds Employability/ Personal Social Skills Course. This booklet is for the ‘Managing Personal Finance’ module. All the questions, tasks and scenarios meet the qualification criteria. As a tutor you can either go through the booklet page by page, using it as the base for your lesson plan or give the learners the book as a research project. A PPT aimed at level 1 learners. This will prepare them to answer the reading assessment’s compare and contrast question. This question is worth 10 – 13% of the papers overall mark, dependent on the examination board used. **Powerpoint Overview: ** Short introduction to the compare and contrast reading question Comparing and contrasting ‘opinions’ group question. Three example questions from different exam boards to give learners a visual image of how the question may be written / formatted Example question from a sample assessment and tips on how to answer this. The class will be given a worksheet and will read the source documents to find the similarities and differences between the texts. A model answer will then be shown on the board.
