A complete lesson based on the new AQA (B6.2) SOW. The lesson is well animated and is particularly accommodating to visual learners. The lesson covers painkillers to treat symptoms, disinfectants and antiseptics for outer surfaces, and antibiotics for bacterial infections. Student learning is applied through a differentiated question grid challenge. Antibiotics and their ineffectiveness against viruses is discussed alongside the generation of antibiotic resistance. The images of MRSA infections can be removed as these can be too much for some students - mine love them. There is then a PP question to complete ahead of the plenary which is based upon students reflecting upon their progress against the LOs. Answers to all questions/writing tasks are included through animation and timers are incorporated to promote pace.

Main activity involves students reviewing different peoples points of view regarding stem cells, formulating an opinion and then engaging in a debate. A full differentiated lesson covering the principles of homoeostasis - this lesson is based upon the AQA (B10.1) scheme of work but could be used for others. Stretch activities and support sheets included to support the learning of high and low abilities. Support sheets are literacy and numeracy based for learning checkpoints 1 and 2 respectively. Timers are included to promote pace, and power point animations facilitate Q/A during the review of each learning checkpoint. Class wide AFL can be conducted through a simple ‘hands up’ to indicate mark. The plenary activity is based on student reflection against the learning objectives.

A full differentiated lesson on the topic of the skeleton. The lesson is based on the Activate 1 (B2.4) book but can be used for other SOW. The lesson includes an activity where students cut out bones and assemble skeletons in a pose of their choosing, peer assessment is based on the correct labelling of the bones and creativity of the pose. PowerPoint animations and timers are included to promote peer correction of written tasks and to promote pace respectively. An X-ray based whiteboard quiz is included as a plenary.

A full lesson based on the OCR-A SOW but could be used for others. This lesson was delivered to an A2 class but the content is quite simple making it suitable for AS alike. This lesson covers genetic and environmental factors within inheritance, using chlorosis in plants and body mass in animals as examples for the latter. The role of sexual reproduction in genetic variation is then studied, alongside homozygous and heterozygous inheritance and continuous/discontinuous variation. A range of activities (including 2 past paper questions) are used to apply knowledge/check for understanding at certain stages within the lesson. Timers are included to promote pace and all answers are included via animation. Self/peer marking follows each activity.

A full differentiated lesson based on the OCR-A SOW. This lesson was used by myself for an A2 class but the content is simple enough for AS. The lesson covers sigmoidal population growth curves, abiotic and biotic limiting factors, migration and density independent factors. Student understanding is then checked through the use of a differentiated question grid tailored to the lessons LO. Students are then introduced to intra and interspecific competition using examples. The red/grey squirrel example is discussed. Students then apply their learning to 2 exam style questions. The plenary is based upon the students reflecting upon their progress against the learning objectives. All answers are included within the slides facilitating self/peer marking, timers are included to promote pace.

Student understanding is checked by a differentiated question grid challenge. Students then conduct the heart dissection practical, a demo is useful here but a video is included. The lesson then covers coronary heart disease and is followed by a past exam question for AFL. The plenary is based on students reflecting upon their progress against the learning objectives.

The lesson includes video and a simple practical where students cut out seeds of varying wingspan and monitor their flight time.
