KS5 Topics - Speaking Card Practice

(0)
This resource includes a number of different speaking cards on various topics that pupils could be faced with in the speaking exam. These cards can either be cut up and given to the pupils at random (like in the real exam) or you could give this resource to pupils as a booklet to revise from at their leisure. Obviously, the texts could be used for translation purposes in order to practice translation and reading skills in preparation for the component 2 examination.

GCSE Speaking exam - question booklet

This booklet includes a mixture of questions on the theme 2 of the new GCSE specification: ‘Local, national, international and global areas of interest’ Each question is provided in Spanish with an English translation, and differentiated bullet points showing pupils how they can achieve the highest mark in their responses. This booklet is really useful for partner-based speaking practice, and for teacher-pupil speaking practice. Depending on the amount of time pupils have to prepare answers, this booklet will enable pupils to work on their spontaneity, fluency and accuracy. Pupils can also peer assess each other by listening to their partner and providing valuable feedback.

KS5 Topic Revision & Speaking Practice

**RESOURCE LOOKS FINE ONCE DOWNLOADED - 2 PAGE DOCUMENT APPEARS STRANGELY IN PREVIEW. ** This resource provides KS5 pupils with the opportunity to test their vocabulary and knowledge of different topics. The cards on each sheet can be cut up and used as a card sorting activity, in which pupils have to match up relevant facts to the statements made in the larger boxes. This will enable pupils to practice providing ‘evidence’ when making statements (which is a key aspect of the KS5 speaking exam). Once the cards have been sorted (as a reading activity), pupils can begin having discussions about the statements made and whether they agree / disagree etc. I have done the activity with my current Year 12 class and it really helped them think deeply about different topics and tested their vocabulary. After the match-up activity, they were able to have a detailed debate about a range of topics :)

GCSE Spanish: Differentiated Tense Cards

111 cards in total!! This resource is ideal for revision of different tenses. Pupils can either work their way through this 20 page document for revision, or you could cut up the tense cards (all differentiated and colour coded red, orange, green) and pupils could select cards at random and test themselves. This is a great resource for increasing spontaneity, fluency and accuracy as pupils must complete their chosen card as quickly as possible without making any errors. Adding a competitive element to filling out these cards worked really well with my class! :)

AS Level Speaking Practice Cards

This powerpoint contains a range of different AS-level topics and questions which will help pupils to revise for their speaking exam. Students should be able to understand the text provided and prepare an answer to the question shown on the slide with the photo. The following questions are the unpredicted questions which would follow afterwards in the exam. This resource can be used individually for revision purposes, or can be used for partner work. I used this with my Year 12 class this week and they found it very useful, especially when speaking in pairs and providing each other with feedback.

PRINT CROSSWORD A3 SIZE AND IT PRINTS FINE - PHOTO INCLUDED TO SHOW LAYOUT ONCE PRINTED This crossword is the perfect end of year challenge for KS3 Spanish. The crossword is A3 size and includes 98 across words and 100 down words - which means it is HUGE! My Year 7’s did this recently and absolutely loved it! It’s a great way of rounding off the year and recapping everything done in Year 7. Of course, this crossword can be given to KS4 classes too as quick revision of basic vocabulary. This resource could be used in the classroom or could be set as homework to complete over the summer holidays. It took me a long time to make this, but I would say it’s been well worth it - my pupils have really enjoyed completing it!! :D

This powerpoint contains enough content for at least 2 lessons on the Spanish subjunctive. Students will learn what the subjunctive is, phrases which trigger the subjunctive and also how to form subjunctive verbs (regular and irregular). Through a variety of activities, students will develop their writing, reading and speaking skills whilst also enhancing their knowledge of high-level grammar. This is the perfect lesson for students who are aiming for a grade 7 and above at GCSE level and who already have a good grasp of the present tense in Spanish.

This booklet contains all the key elements for getting a fantastic grade in the GCSE Spanish writing exam. Booklet follows the TORTILLA formula for writing - tenses, opinions, reasons, time phrases, idiomatic expressions, linking words, ‘lo’ phrases, adjectives. This booklet could be used in class alongside teacher-led explanations etc or it could be given to students as homework over a period of time. It could also be used as an extra revision resource for students. There is enough content in this booklet (16 pages) to cover a series of lessons. I used this resource with my own Year 11s recently and it has massively improved their Spanish writing skills! :)
