This topic summary booklet is intended for independent study or to aid revision for the topic of ‘Gender and Theology’ in the Christianity / Developments in Christian Thought section of the course. Each booklet is downloaded as both a Word document and a PDF, for compatibility.
This 12-page summary booklet specifically follow the requirements of the OCR A Level Religious Studies Spec, though they can be edited easily for other specifications. They explore appropriate AO1 (knowledge and understanding) followed by AO2 (analysis and evaluation), culminating in exam practise with a choice of four essay titles.
The Summary Booklets can be used as lesson companions or as self-study/revision booklet. They are versatile resources for both class and home, and are especially useful in aiding progress via remote learning.

o The teaching of Rosemary Radford Ruether and Mary Daly on gender and its implications for the Christian idea of God
o Ruether’s discussion of the maleness of Christ and its implications for salvation, including:
Jesus’ challenge to the male warrior-messiah expectation
God as the female wisdom principle
Jesus as the incarnation of wisdom
o Daly claims that ‘if God is male then male is God’ and its implications for Christianity, including:
Christianity’s Unholy Trinity of rape, genocide and war
Spirituality experienced through nature
