Collecting like terms – Tick or Trash (3 sets).
Tick or Trash one – basic collecting like terms. Allowing students to apply their knowledge of basic simplifying expressions.
Tick or Trash two and three – links to common misconceptions around adding t2 + t2 and getting t4 instead of the correct answer of 2t2. There is also links with perimeter and area – getting pupils to write expressions for perimeter and area linked to expressions.

Contains;
1. 3 different tick or trash tasks. 9 questions in each.
2. 3 sets of solutions provided with task.
3. Set of instructions to ensure the task runs smoothly.

Printing Tip: This resource has been designed to give each pupil a copy. It can be displayed on board but will need to be zoomed in. Print on A4 – two tick or trash tasks on one A4 page. If you wish to print, select ‘shrink’ or ‘print to fit page’ (or fit to page option on your print settings) in order for it to print correctly on A4 and then print 2 copies to one page.

To develop pupils thinking/reasoning skills. To encourage pupils to get involved, engaged in task. To encourage mathematical discussion within the classroom. Watch pupils get motivated while consolidating learning – quick way to get pupils to engage in task and complete questions in a short space of time. They cannot wait to see who wins.
