Simpsons-themed place value murder mystery maths activity for KS2 & KS3. Pupils solve clues to find the culprit, location & time. Perfect for Years 5–8 (ages 9–13).

Disaster has struck in Springfield! Someone has stolen a giant box of donuts from Lard Lad Donuts, and your pupils must use their place value skills to solve the case.

Learners work through a series of challenges to discover:

•Who stole the donuts (Seymour Skinner, Abe Simpson, Mr Burns or Smithers)

•Where they hid them (Kwik-E-Mart, Springfield Elementary, Moe’s Tavern, or the Nuclear Power Plant)

•When the theft happened (different times of day)

By checking place value statements, spotting mistakes, and applying logical reasoning, pupils use their maths knowledge in a fun, problem-solving context.

This activity is ideal for:

•Upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5–6, Ages 9–11)

•Lower Key Stage 3 (Years 7–8, Ages 11–13)

Perfect for whole-class lessons, small-group challenges, or as an engaging enrichment activity, this Simpsons-themed mystery makes place value practice exciting and memorable.
