Series of activities to introduce the World Cup in Russia 2018. Starting with identifying the continents of origin of the 32 competing nations which leads into a mapping exercise showing where in the world these countries are found.
Second activity is again atlas work and a poster presentation, as students locate the venues of the matches on a map of Russia, then match up the images of the grounds to the city.
Third activity looks at the size of Russia and maps the distance between venues, students are asked to calculate which team has the greatest distance to travel during the group stage of the competition.
Extra activities include word search and a cross word which looks at the geographical features of Russia as well as details about the World Cup.
