Medieval Britain: The murder of Thomas Becket

This lesson questions who was to blame for the Murder in the Cathedral. Students have to fill in a crime report for the Chief Inspector who wants to know all the evidence before a conclusion is reached and a verdict delivered. The students immediately become detectives as they arrive into a classroom which has now become a crime scene. Various sources of information are presented to them from the eye witness accounts of monks to Henry’s cook! There can only be one guilty party surely, but who is it? This lesson is designed to be fun, engaging and challenging. If you have enjoyed the lesson, please check out the next lesson which decides if Henry II was sorry for this heinous crime.
