What Was The Question? - Ratio and Proportion Special

What Was The Question? - Ratio and Proportion Special

Four sets of four problems where students have the answer but there are blanks in the questions which require filling in. This is designed to create discussion in class and hopefully provided natural differentiation (stretch the “top end” by finding the general solution where possible compared to finding a single solution). I will be using these as starters or plenaries as I believe they will develop deeper understanding of topics, but feel free to use them as you like (you will as you don’t need me to hold your hand).

Worksheets and presentation that introduces Venn diagrams and extends to probability. Students have to sort numbers into Venn diagrams that are labeled ‘Factors of 12’, ‘Prime Numbers’, ‘Multiples of 3’ etc. Great for an introduction to the concept and to recap factors, multiples, primes and squares. Adding Fractions By Colouring In

Adding Fractions By Colouring In

Two worksheets introducing adding fractions visually. On the first worksheet students represent two fractions by colouring in the correct number of segments in two circles. They then must colour in the resulting circle by adding the segments together. This makes for a great introduction to adding fractions and explaining why we add the numerators but leave the denominators the same. Ideal for KS2 or low ability KS3 students. The second worksheet extends the idea to fractions with different denominators. Answers are provided.

Prime Factorization (Mini Module)

Prime Factorization (Mini Module)

A Kaffenate Mini Module is a one page (front and back) sheet that covers a single topic. Each KMM has: –An instructional section: The instructional sections at the top of each page are either very thorough examples, step-by-step instructions, or both. –Practice problems: Problems start out easy and get progressively more difficult throughout the module. Each problem has enough space for the student to work it out right there. –Challenge or puzzle: The kids love the challenges or puzzles that are part of each module. These acts as both incentives and, sometimes, self-checking tools. –Answer Keys! Busy teachers don’t have time to make their own answer keys. I’ve done that for you. Kaffenate Mini Modules can be used in SO MANY WAYS! –Topic Introduction –Daily Warm Up –Homework –Pop Quiz –Substitute Plans –Extension Work –Catch-up Work –Topic Review –OR whatever else YOU can think of! (In fact, tell me how you use them!)
