Bump game: Use dice/coins to generate a number (instruction on the sheet) place a counter on the picture with the corresponding area/volume subject to the following: if the picture is empty them place the counter on it if it is occupied by ONE opponents counter them bump them off and take its place if it has two or more opponents counters then you cannot take the picture as it is protected, wait till next go and try again. Winner is first to use all their counters (number to be decided at the start) Can also be used as a worksheet.

I Have... Who Has? Telling Time Game

Students love to play this telling time game. We play as a whole class. You cut them apart and give a time card to each student. The student with the start card goes first. Another student has to answer the time question by looking at the clock on their card. The player with the right clock on their card reads their question and another student …

Area and Perimeter - Match them up!

Activity: Cut out the rectangles, ‘area’ answers and ‘perimeter’ answers and place them in an envelope. Get the children to match them up correctly … great warm up or plenary activity!

The Mondrian Squares Puzzle

The challenge is to divide a square in a way that will create the smallest possible difference between the area of the largest and the smallest rectangle. The rules are: The square must be entirely covered by unique rectangles. Summer Holiday Maths Activities Yr1 - 6

Have you had parents ask for ideas for doing maths at home? Worried that the summer holiday will leave your students forgetting lots of skills that they learnt this year? This is the pack for you! This pack contains a double sided sheet for each year group from Year 1 - Year 6. They contain ideas for activities that can be done at home or on holiday to practise maths skills. Simply print double-sided, then fold so it makes a leaflet and give to children that are leaving that particular year group. e.g. Give the children who are in Year 1 right now, the Year 1 sheet. The ideas cover a range of topics for each year group. Some ideas have been taken and adapted from the parent’s booklets that were produced with the original National Numeracy Strategy.

This is an interactive year 3 lesson on reading, writing, and calculating time. In this lesson, learners will be able: to tell and write the time from an analogue clock, including using Roman numerals from I to XII, and 12-hour and 24-hour clocks estimate and read time with increasing accuracy to the nearest minute; record and compare time in terms of seconds, minutes and hours; use vocabulary such as o’clock, am/pm, morning, afternoon, noon and midnight know the number of seconds in a minute and the number of days in each month, year and leap year compare durations of events [for example, to calculate the time taken by particular events or tasks] This lesson contains 77 interactive pages with lots of drag and drop activities and worksheet for extended work.
