Year 2 - Measuring accurately using a ruler

Year 2 - Measuring accurately using a ruler

A simple task for children who need practising measuring using a ruler accurately. Hopefully all of the lines are in whole centimetres, they were done on the computer. There is a challenge at the bottom for the children to measure parts of the picture of the house.

KS 1 or 2 length vocabulary

KS 1 or 2 length vocabulary

Hi all, Here's some vocabulary based on length aimed mainly at years 2 to 4, but you can choose which ones you want and/or edit by adding more. You'll also notice that I've used a range of typefaces. I feel that it's really important to expose children to a range of typefaces as early on in their school careers as possible, most books have different typefaces and many handwriting schemes only have one! These resources take up a lot of my time and I'm happy to share them for free so PLEASE review this one for me. Let me know of any changes/improvements that you'd like me to make and I can re-post it! Many thanks, Emlo

Estimating and measuring to the nearest cm or m.

Estimating and measuring to the nearest cm or m.

Hi all, I try to link my worksheets to topics, so, we recently looked at the stone age in Topic whilst looking at length in Maths. Therefore, I gave my Y3 children an estimating and measuring task using a picture of a caveman. Working in pairs, they were meant to be the cavemen/women and first estimate the measurements and write them down. Once they'd done this we talked about which equipment might be suitable for certain shapes and sizes - it's difficult to measure someone's neck with a 30cm ruler because it doesn't bend easily! Next, we shared measurements and talked about how 'reasonable' we thought they were, giving them chance to change them if they wanted to. Only then did I allow them to use the equipment to measure to the nearest cm or m. If you don't like/want the image you can simply change it; the arrows can also be edited. I've also included the vocab to go with length to put on your working wall. You'll notice that they're in a range of typefaces. I feel that it's really important for all children to be exposed to different typefaces as early as possible - not all letters are formed the same as handwriting schemes! Please review this for me, it's important to know what people think and/or ask me for any specific work or changes that they want me to make. Many thanks, Emlo

Online Triangle Solver

Online Triangle Solver

TrianCal - Open in Google Chrome. (Triangles online calculator developed by Jesus S.) I propose this free online calculator triangles without advertising to help students with geometry, does not perform the duties, because their calculations formulas are not displayed. It is designed in a didactic way to check and view the realized duties. TrianCal is online calculator triangles that works with any combination of values including sides, heights, angles, the area, perimeter or type of any triangle, calculating it with the minimum possible value (typically three). Other functions: - Draw the triangle (s) with GeoGebra. - Set the range of values in each element. - Chande name of vertex - The type of angle. - The type of triangle by its angles and sides. - Selection of language (English or Spanish). - Select the angle type [degrees (°), radians, degrees, minutes and seconds (° ' ") or degrees and minutes (° ')]. - Number of decimal places shown in the results (0-15). - You can use the arrow keys and the Tab key to navigate through the settings. - Drop-down menu to select the values comfortably. - Create a link (URL) to the current triangle. - An icon mail to communicate with the author. NOTE: You must use the Google Chrome browser to display correctly TrianCal. Examples of possible combinations: - The area, perimeter and other data (side, height or angle), if the outside equilateral triangle would not need the third data. - 2 angles and other data (if the value of the other data is not put aside the value of "a" at the time of drawing the triangle is 10).
