Algebra Substitution Board Game This is a fun way to practice algebra substitution. Evaluating Algebraic Expressions Activity There are 2 game boards which can be printed in colour or black and white. The blue and white board is the main playing board. There is also a second easier board (green and white) which can be used for less able students or younger children. ✎ Contents: This resource includes: 2 Game Boards Printable Playing Counters. Teachers Notes. Game Instructions. ✦ Objectives: This resource has been designed to practice: Evaluating algebraic expressions in one variable. Algebra substitution. Positive and negative numbers. ✽ Directions: Put the students into small groups. It will work best with groups of 2 to 4 students. Give each group a game board, a set of playing counters and a dice. ⚅ To Play: Students play by throwing the dice and using the dice number as “d” to substitute into the algebra expression on their square. This is how many squares they can move around the board. A player wins when they have completed 3 laps of the board. ✦ Equipment: You will need one dice for each board.
