A starter which includes 5 questions which seem to be badly answered at year 7. The same questions repeat 6 times so can be used for 6 consecutive lessons. The aim is that each lesson they get better at each question so by lesson 6 can tackle all 5 questions within 15 mins. They focus on key skills in the new 9-1 Foundation GCSE to ensure that pupils can improve their raw score. A set of 6 lesson starters targeting key areas of weakness for high ability year 11. Used on numerous occasions and proved to be a success. At the end of 2 weeks the aim is that all pupils will be able to complete all 6 within the allocated time for your starter when initially only being able to complete 1 or 2.

A series of lessons on iteration (2-3). The lesson begins with rearranging formula in many ways which is part b) of the iteration question in the ew GCSE. It moves forward to using iteration to find particular values and then develops pupils learning to finding estimates to a solution by doing a series of iterative. There is a killer question which is a typical GCSE exam question. All tasks are differentiated to at least 3 levels to allow pupils to practice the skill and also stretch and challenge the more able. A series of lessons (2-3) on finding missing angles in a quadrilateral. There is a variety of tasks ranging from the basics of finding missing angles, linking angles and algebra and also introduction to circle theorems (Cyclic Quadrilaterals). All tasks are differentiated to 3 levels, with solutions and give the pupils the chance to consolidate and also challenge themselves. It is suitable for the 9-1 curriculum as it involves problem solving and reasoning tasks.

This is a lesson aimed at LA KS3 or HA KS2. It is a series of lessons which develops a pupils understanding of plotting coordinates in all 4 quadrants.
