French: Tu or vous?

(0)
This resource explicitly outlines a very broad cultural element such as the great distinctions as to when to use the 'tu' or the 'vous' form. Students complete the quiz reassuring them of any unfamiliar vocabulary and then they read the cartoon strip followed by another quiz on the story and there are follow up activities on it. This resource is geared towards learners of Key Stage 2/3 level. Happy teaching and learning!

This presentation gives a thorough explanation of how to form the present participle in French in a way to convey that two actions are happening at the same time. This would be ideal for students who are studying IGCSE French, A-Level French and adults who are simply studying french for the first time or revision.

French: Classroom display - Places in the town A-Z

French: Classroom display - Places in the town A-Z

(0)
This classroom displays depicts 105 different places in the town in French from A-Z!! YES, that’s right, 105!! Each poster is very informative as it contains the place in the town in French with the name in English using both the definite and indefinite article as appropriate, alongside the preposition ‘à’ with its meaning in English. You don’t need to necessarily put up all 105 posters, but the classroom would look absolutely bright, engaging and colourful if you did! You can of course be very selective and put up the most common ones but it is of course up to you!! Also included in this resource, are 20 different things that can be found in the town, such as the bus stop, telephone box, level crossing, etc. Feel free to put those up as well! Happy teaching and learning!

French: General lesson on the conditional

(1)
This lesson is designed to give a fundamental idea of how the conditional tense is formed and its use. This lesson is specifically geared towards students studying the IGCSE French programme, but it can also be used for the standard GCSE programme and good revision for AS/A2 French. I tend to use the IGCSE French grammar workbook which is what I am referring to on slide 7, but feel free to make up your own exercises or get them from a different grammar workbook. This resource is free. Happy teaching and learning!
Key Stage 3 French: Questions using 'est-ce que' and question words
KRIS240680KRIS240680

Key Stage 3 French: Questions using 'est-ce que' and question words

(0)
This resource explicitly looks at how to form questions using ‘est-ce que’ and how to incorporate question words into a question in the context of ‘manger’ (to eat). Firstly, do a re-cap of the use of ‘tu’ or ‘vous’ by playing a quiz with the students as forming questions follows on from this. After the quiz, get students to read the each question (you can get them to repeat after you if they have difficulty in pronouncing the words). Ask the class then to raise their hand if they think the correct answer is either ‘A’ or ‘B’. Ask them why they think or what tells them that that is the correct answer. Play the dice game after the presentation and then get the students to then copy down the vocabulary on slide 51 if you wish or you can hand out the poster on the use of ‘est-ce que’ and question words’. They then can complete the follow-up activities tailored to their level. I would recommend the gifted and talented students to complete activity 4 and the much less able students to complete activity 1. Happy teaching and learning!
