Introducing Fractions and Decimals

(2)
This pack is filled with worksheets designed to introduce students to fractions and understanding the relationship between different fractions. It also covers decimals, asking students to put decimals in order of size. Each worksheet is differentiated 3 ways. There are two files: the worksheet files and the teachers file that includes the solutions. It contains the following worksheets: Worksheet 1 Equal Share Worksheet 2 Identifying Fractions Worksheet 3 Shading Fractions Worksheet 4 Word Link Worksheet 5 Letters Worksheet 6 Fraction and Decimal Number Lines Worksheet 7 Word Problems Worksheet 8 Comparing Fractions Worksheet 9 Comparing Decimals Worksheet 10 Stepping Stones The first worksheet takes a look at what is meant by breaking shapes into equal sizes, and builds understanding of what fractions are. The second worksheet is about stating the fraction of the shape or group of objects that are shaded. The first differentiation gives clues for the first few questions, level two just gives an example, and level three asks students to simplify where possible. The third worksheet is a continuation of the second, this time asking students to shade the given fraction on the shape or group of objects. The fourth worksheet has students connect a written fraction to its shaded shape form. When these lines are connected, a name of a famous mathematician is discovered. For the level 1 differentiation, some answers are given to get them started. The fifth worksheet looks at letters and asks students to find what fraction of certain letters are vowels or are made up of words. It also consists of some simple adding decimals. Worksheet six consists of number lines. Students are asked to put fractions and decimals in the correct places on the number lines. They are also asked to identify where 1 is on the number line, given the position of a given fraction. Differentiations 2 and 3 explore top heavy fractions. Worksheet seven asks simple fraction word problems. Worksheet eight builds on this by comparing the sizes of fractions directly. Differentiation 1 includes images of fractions as well as the written form to help students visualise the solution. The ninth worksheet is a continuation of worksheet eight, but covering decimals. The tenth and final worksheet also asks students to compare fractions to find the largest, but in a more fun way. The worksheet consists of pictures of stones in a pond, and students must choose the largest fraction in each column to step on to get across the pond. This pack is available as part of our Introducing Fractions, Decimals and Percentages Bundle available here.

This is a fun an engaging game to aid in the development of skills in Addition and Number Bonds. The cards have questions on asking players to add one and two digit numbers. Cards are dealt to each player and a base card is turned over. Players must play from their hand a card whose sum is closest in answer to the base card. The closest player wins the points for that round. These games can be used for younger students learning to add, or for older students looking to practice speedy addition and number sense. Works very well with Subtraction Battle for a more dynamic game play. A full set of rules and answer key is included in this pack. UPDATED for 2022: Updated the rules Redesign of cards to make them easier to use Included Record Sheet Angle Wars is a Card Game designed to strengthen a student’s skills at identifying acute and obtuse angles. It also encourages them to measure angles using a protractor. It make for an engaging activity. Deal cards to each player. A base card is then revealed, and students much choose a card in their hand with the closest angle in degrees to the base card. This is a fast and fun game for revising angles, and students wont even realise they are working as they play. You will need at least one protractor to play this game properly, however it is recommended that all players have their own protractors. All of the cards are numbered randomly and correspond to the answer key which is provided in this game pack. The cards only feature Acute and Obtuse angles. An answer key is also included. Mean Wars | Mean median mode card game

(2)
UPDATED for 2022: Redesign of cards to make them easier to use Updated Rules A card game that provides a fun way to reinforce the knowledge of averages. The cards give students an interactive way to develop a deeper understanding of Mean, Median, Mode and Range data. The cards in the pack are numbered from 0-12. There are 4 rounds to this game and 9 new cards are dealt out to each player each round. Players can choose whether to take their median, mean, mode or range score. However, they can only chose each one once. For example, if I have a range of 11 in the first round and choose that range, and in the next round I have a range of 12, I cannot choose the range for that round. This forces students to work out each average type at least once. We highly recommend you allow students to use a calculator, as the random nature of the cards means divisions wont always be whole numbers. However, you can ask students to work it out manually as an extra challenge. You can also change the number of cards dealt out. For example, dealing 8 cards means students have to find the medium that appears between two cards. Pack includes a set of 52 cards of numbers 0 to 12. Full rules of play are included, and the cards are printed with easy-cut guides to make preparation fast and simple. This is included in Card Game Bundle 1 You may also like: -Statistics Bingo -Statistics Follow Me Cards

Fraction Decimal Percent Snap | Card Game

(2)
UPDATED for 2022: Redesign of cards to make them easier to use This game is all about matching fractions, decimals and percentages. it includes several equivalent fractions as well. Included are: a half a quarter three quarters one third two thirds one fifth two fifth one eight one tenth There are 6 types of card in this pack, Black cards which feature simple fractions, 2 sets of Green cards which are their basic equivalent fractions, Red cards which are more difficult equivalent fractions, 2 sets of Purple cards which feature visual representations of equivalent fractions, Yellow cards which feature equivalent percentage values and Blue cards which feature equivalent decimal values. There are two variations of this game. One is a classical game of snap, where students win if they spot equivalent cards appearing. The second way to use this, and one that has been popular with my students, is to lay out the base fractions in a line (or get students to lay them out in order of size, thereby testing their knowledge of ordering fractions) and then challenging them to race each other to match all the equivalent cards as quick as possible, Full rules and answer key are provided in the pack itself. The cards are also printed with easy-cut guides to make preparation fast and simple. This is included in Card Game Bundle 1 You may also like: -Fractions, Decimals and Percentage Worksheets Bundle -Fractions, Decimals and Percentage Dominoes -Fractions, Decimals and Percentage Flash Cards -Fractions, Decimals and Percentage Clip Cards -Fractions, Decimals and Percentage Matching Puzzle

Probability | Chance of Rain Card Game

(2)
This product is a game designed to explore probabilities, and how they change as time goes on. But can also be played just for fun as a way to develop strategic thinking. There are varied numbers of weather cards, and you use your knowledge of their probabilities to prepare yourself with items to go out in that weather. If a rain card is turned over, and you are prepared with an umbrella, well done! You keep your Item. But if a sunny card is turned over, and you have an umbrella, oh no! You lose your item. The winner is the last person to remain in the game at the very end. The game is playable in 2 different ways, independent and dependent probabilities, as defined by removing completely or returning and reshuffling the weather cards as you play. Both give great play experiences. We have already played this game with students, and they say it’s our best game so far! Purchase it to find out why. This is also a great game to play with early years students just for a little fun. It comes with easy-cut guides, full cheat sheets and probability tracking pages for players to keep track as cards are played and revealed. Makes for great fun, and powerful learning. Telling the Time | Clip Cards

(4)
These clip cards are a great way to test students’ knowledge of telling the time using a physical multiple choice system. It includes o’clock, half past, quarter past & to and 10 & 1 minute intervals, and contains converting between analogue clock & 12 hour, analogue clock & word form, Word form & 12 hour, and 12 hour & 24 hour. The given possible answers have been carefully chosen to allow teachers to spot any misconceptions students may have about telling the time. The idea of this activity is that students work out the correct conversion of the given time, then clip a clothespin/peg or a paperclip to what they think is the correct answer. This activity works equally well when the cards are laminated. Students simply circle the correct answer using a dry erase marker. Alternatively, you can print these on paper, hand out to your class at the end of the lesson, so they can put their names on and circle the correct answer, serving as a great exit ticket/plenary to the lesson. These cards are in colour, but print equally well in grey scale for cost savings. To make them self marking, simply place a dot on the underside of the card pertaining to the correct answer.
