Get children thinking about the colours: Crotchet (red) walks and has one beat, Minim (blue) sli-ides and has two beats, Quaver twins (yellow) go jogging and have half a beat each, Semibreve (green) goes whoo-oo-oo-oosh and has 4 beats, Restful Mouse (white) rests quietly when the music stops.
