CV writing- SEN. Resource pack & planning

(0)
This resource pack contains a plan, all resources referenced in the plan as well as a Powerpoint that supports with activities and discussions for each task. The plan includes links to the functional skills entry level writing, reading, speaking and listening and ICT frameworks. This was originally made for a Post 16 class in an SEN school, with levels ranging from Functional Skills Entry Level 2 to Level 1. I was tasked with preparing 18 young people to understand the use of a CV and to be able to write one themselves and I struggled to find resources that broke this task down into manageable chunks for SEN learners. I have included two examples of CVs my students were able to make as well, I have used pseudonyms and removed all personal data. I hope other educators find this useful!

Colourful semantics for CVC words SEN ASD

(1)
Colourful semantics to go with 23 CVC words. I split these into 4 words per week (one week, has 3 words) and we work on spelling these words and using them in sentences, but this can be easily adapted if you wanted to use more words per week. I have included colourful semantics boards, from the basic Who, What doing, What, to more complex Who, What doing, What, Where, Why. I have laminated these for my class and differentiate so some of the students complete only the 3 word sentences and some complete the 4 or 5 word sentences, but using the same pictures. I have included 3 pictures of examples of students using the boards and words (I hav blanked out student names)

This is a collection of 10 lessons I made for Science- Biology- Ecosystems (focusing on the rainforest). Including an assessment at the end. Brief overview: 1-Introduction to the rainforest- climate of the rainforest 2- Climate of the rainforest- the equator 3-Introduction to ecosystems- why animals and plants need each other 4- Food chains and food webs 5- Predators and prey of the rainforest 6-Animal adaptations 7-Plants of the rainforest 8-Plant adaptations 9-Animal research 10- End of topic assessment A brief SOW, including description of the lesson activities is included, all powerpoints for every lesson, objectives, and worksheets to go along with them. I’ve used symbol communication in all of the powerpoints and most worksheets to aid understanding for SEN & ASD students or students with low level literacy skills. This was originally made for a year 7 & 8 class, with Year 1, year 2 and year 3 levels in literacy, so the resources aren’t too wordy and what they need to do is made really clear.

Dragon's Dinner colourful semantics. SEN

Originally made for KS3 SEN class for students of pre key stage level (p scale). Sentences to go with each page of the book to describe what is happening. Images from the book or photocopies can be used to sequence parts of the story and describe what the character’s are doing. I have also included a template that can be used alongside images from the book to create a sentence, with the colours there as a guide for lower level students, or students new to colourful semantics. I have included a page of ‘little words’ or white words that can be cut up and slotted into the colourful semantics to create full sentences for students of a higher level. There are also communicate in print supports for adjectives that can be used for higher levels as well. Eg: The brave mouse climbed on the dragon’s tail.
