Higher History- Migration and Empire, 1830-1939 - Glossary Quiz/ Study Booklet

(0)
This is a glossary booklet used to improve the literacy of your Higher History students studying Part D (Migration and Empire, 1830- 1939) in the Source Paper. In the exam, your students are expected to read chunks of source material and this glossary is one tool towards improving their language skills. Words have been chosen from the 4 key issues and have appeared in either the past papers or textbooks. I have been using this for 4 years and find it a really good way of introducing a pop quiz element that stays similar through the year, improving confidence and literacy of my learners. Also a good aid for monitoring progression (handy for report season!). This pack includes the print out glossary for the student, the answer booklet for the teacher and the quiz sheet that can be printed for use whenever you feel the need to quiz. Best used as an ongoing revision tool.

The Players of the Russian Revolution- S2/3, Year 8/9 History

(0)
3 lessons dedicated to the Russian Revolution, but told by investigating 3 men from the time: Lesson 1- Rasputin Lesson 2- Lenin Lesson 3- Stalin Each lesson has a dedicated notes sheet which is designed to be done during the lesson/presentation. The marks show how many points students are expected to be able to give. The overall task for the lesson is to then write a short essay. These focus on word count to try and encourage students to extend their work. This should be completed in the jotter or on a laptop. I currently use these lessons with S3 (Year 9 English System), and frame them as ‘developing study/ listening skills’. Students have reacted well to them and enjoy the challenge of the mini essay, which can be set as homework or completed in class time.
