Suitable for KS3 or Low Achieving KS4. The resource focuses on understanding the differences between atoms, elements, compounds, mixtures, molecules. The task includes a definition (either in students’ own words or from suitable text), explain using a diagram, apply by linking terms. The activity is best done after a teacher explains the concepts, or with suitable textbooks. Running time is approximately 30 -40 minutes.

This is a cut and paste activity (a paper investigation). Students cut out the parts and then glue them in to make a diagram. This is particularly suitable for lower to middle attaining students who need to do more recall on investigations. (it changes speed of object or works in opposite direction of applied force)

Ready to go lesson. There is no practical in this lesson. Differentiated by outcome. L3 – I can understand simple force diagrams and say which way the object will move. L4 – I can correctly draw a force diagram and say whether the force is balanced or unbalanced. L5 – I can work out the resultant force on an object and draw force diagrams. A very handy way getting students used to the terminology of the topic. Keywords and definitions provided. If correctly placed in the exercise book students can have access to it without flipping backwards through their books to find it. This is a double sided bookmark to be glued in on any page on the far left hand side of the left hand page - instructions for the best way of using these are on page 3 of the document.

Easy to read crossword puzzle to either introduce or reinforce thermal transfer and energy transfers. I will be using them as a starter with my Year 10s for AQA Oxbox P1.12 lesson but they are very generic. They are also suitable for KS3 higher sets. If you have the old Physics4you books students can use the cartoons and text on page 8. A differentiated crossword with some of the keywords is also provided to allow low ability students to access them. I would suggest printing side by side in A5 size.

Apologies, this is a crude jigsaw but it works very well as an activity with SEN or low ability students. It is a 2 page jigsaw puzzle based upon a diagram of the Earth and atmosphere. Very easy to put together, but forces students to interact with the diagram. To extend you could ask students to write a short paragraph to explain.
