This is a full 30 week scheme of work for functional skills maths. Written by myself for the City and Guilds criteria but still useful for other exam boards. Contains curriculum links, starters, homework suggestions , plenary ideas and ideas for lesson content . Stretch and challenge included and differentiated. Originally made for my work with apprentices. This is a booklet containing nearly 200 pages of activities. Its great as a book to work through in class if you done have traditionally taught sessions but it could work as a homework book or to replace handouts. Great for revision also. Explanations and worked examples followed by questions and activities. Not just worksheets. Cover the functional skills maths level 1 curriculum and topics are included such as, rounding,percentages, fractions,mean and range, bar charts, tables, reverse calculation, ratio, problem solving activities and exam practice. It is a card matching activity generator on pie charts. Learners have to match a set of 9 frequency tables with their matching pie charts. A great way to generate your own pie matching activities.
Can be used as an activity within a pie chart lesson or could be used as a starter or plenary.

This is a simple flow diagram style help sheet for converting metric units. I use this as part of my metric units lesson. I have highlighted the key conversions that are needed to be remembered for both level 1 and level 2 functional skills maths exams.

This pack contains 6 tasks to help develop problem solving and also challenge misconceptions. Very little numeracy skills are needed to perfect for start of term team building. Can be used as a booklet or print A3 for a great carousel in the first few weeks of term. Suggested answers are now included!
• Odd One out – there is more than one right answer which some learners find difficult to accept.
• Spot the mistake – 5 problems with mistakes, includes writing money on a calculator, changing units, square M, rounding errors.

This is a workbook that covers drawing single and double bar charts, Line graphs, scatter graphs and pie charts. It is covers each topic briefly and is good for a revision session or for more able learners as a refresh session. Looks at drawing each of the stated and some interpreting such as using a line of best fit to make predictions. I made this for my revision sessions for functional skills but could also be good to give as homework for GCSE foundation learners.
All on word so you can add to it if you like and an answer sheet is included. (I have used excel to make the graphs for the answer books.

This is a maths revision quiz designed to cover loads of the criteria for the functional skills maths exams. It includes percentages, fractions, decimals, area, perimeter, scale plan, formula, ratio, converting between units, averages and more. It is designed to be played as a powerpoint so you can download it and go without the need to print. Questions are mixed L1 & L2 so perfect for mixed ability or cover lesson.
There are 4 rounds:
Round 1 is a beat the clock round with a timer linked to the powerpoint ten minutes to answer 10 questions. You can adjust for your own groups as necessary. Bonus challenge question on ratio included.
Round 2: True or false read the statements and decide if they are true or false, if they are false the reason why must be given to get a point.
Round 3: Multiple choice round. Read the questions of the board and circle your chosen answer.
Round 4: Picture round look at the pictures and answer the questions
Then swap answer sheets and go through answer all on the powerpoint on the board.
This is designed to be able to just do the lesson with no prep ideal for a cover session.
If you have a bit more time the last few slides are answer sheets which can be printed for learners to record thier answers on.
Also included are the questions on a seperate powerpoint for you to print it required.
