Resources for RE lessons about Diwali. A simple PowerPoint that includes a song about Diwali on each slide (to the tune of London Bridge is falling down, because I don’t seem to be able to write a song to any other tune lol) The powerpoint has some videos linked. If they do not load check that external media has been allowed. Low ability- Match a word to a labelled symbol Middle ability - colourful semantics to make sentences about Diwali Higher ability- Communication board to write sentences I used this for my class of ASC students that need lots of visual support and are highly motivated by songs.

Feelings Traffic Light Resource

(0)
Traffic light resource, useful to help students with autism to self-regulate. Depending on the needs of your students you may need to teach them how to use it first, e.g. say to them "you are feeling angry, (put sad symbol on red area) then give them an option of 2 yellow symbols to help them calm down. Let them do this activity with a sandtimer and ask them how they feel when the timer is finished (green symbols). Laminate and velcro traffic light background. laminate and cut out symbols with velcro on the back.

Was Henry VIII a good or bad King?

(0)
PowerPoint discussing the positive and negative actions of Henry VIII. During the PowerPoint I got students involved by showing thumbs up or thumbs down during each slide to give their opinion on his actions. Sorting activity has 2 levels. The colour coded (red and green) are for lower ability students (I used a red and green hoop for them to sort them into). The black outlined cards are for more able students. Ideally this resource is for SEND students or the lower ability students in a mainstream class.

CVC Words

(0)
An activity to help aid reading and comprehension of CVC words. I would recommend printing the pages and laminating them. Students can then place a counter on the correct symbol after reading each word or clip a peg over the symbol.
